Anyone else have a High School Reunion coming up? « Back to Group Discussions

Mine just got scheduled for Sept. 29.  I'm due Oct 17.  After we move this July, it will be about 3 hours away from where we are living/birthing.  I'll discuss it with my midwife, of course, but I still kind of want to go.  Is that nuts?  My parents still live there, so we could stay with them for a night before driving back.  DS was born at 40 weeks exactly after 18 hours of labor, for whatever that's worth.

Go!!!!! How fun to see your classmates at almost 9 months preggers!!!! Granted, you might change your mind then, depending on how you feel, but I think you should plan to go!!!! Definitly plan to spend the night though....6 hours in 1 day might be too much!

Id go. I drove 2 1/2 hours around 36 weeks, the only hard part was the hip pain afterwards.. OUCH!!! Just be smarter than me and take breaks :)

Yeah, I think half the fun of the reunion will be seeing everyone's faces in reaction to my ginormousness.  I'm a small mama, the running joke back in high school was that my friends were going to throw me a party when I hit 100 lbs.  I didn't make it before graduation   It's going to be in a bar, I hope it won't be too smoky

How fun! Since you have family there, sounds like you will be in good hands. The drive sounds doable. And I'm sure there is a hospital nearby if anything does happen early.

There is a nearby hospital, but I'll be past 37 weeks, so just labor alone wouldn't be a real emergency.  We're planning a homebirth, and I'd hate to have a hospital birth just because I go into labor away from home, you know?  Maybe I can convince my midwife (who is also my MIL) to come over the mountains with me.  Her daughter lives in the same city as the reunion, and FIL has an office nearby that he often sleeps at (since it's 3 hours from where they live).  She can come to visit one of them, and then if I just happen to go into hard, fast labor that weekend, I can have the baby at my parents house :P
