Hi all! While I was away I came across this amazing mama's beautiful story of her journey of preparation for her second birth on one of my favorite blogs, Che and Fidel. I was so inspired by her determination, I wanted to share it here. It is a moving story, so have the tissues handy. But its a story that celebrates a mama's determination to heal from birth trama and illness to give her LO the loving start she deserves.

Feel free to post any thoughts, stories or inspiration you come across as we all prepare - body, mind and spirit - to welcome our own babies soon! I thought it would be nice to have a place to share inspiration, hopes, fears or just thoughts about this huge transition from pregnancy to birth and motherhood.

Lakeruby - I just haven't been ready to watch birth videos yet, funny how that changes when you're the one preparing to give birth! That was the first one I've watched since finding out that I was pregnant. So beautiful. Thanks for posting!

This is another great birth story. Mama (Lindsay) practiced a lot of visualization during pregnancy to try to slow her typically fast, intense labors...and it worked! Baby June was born into her peaceful, happy home surrounded by lots of love!

awesome links! I loved reading about the "Panic Rooms" birth when it happened, so it is great to see it again!

I have just started preparing my mind for birth. I have been trying to watch movies about home birth, as I can sometimes forget that lots of times things move normally along. 

A great dvd my midwives loaned me was "Gentle birth, gentle mothering" like the book, only an informative dvd about the normalcy of birth. 

Although I still like watching birth, it reminds me of how painful it was. 

Also, reading Ina May's guide to CB.

I wanted to share this video, it is my niece's birth in March.  I thought my sister handled the whole process so beautifully and it was really special.  I was talking to her on the phone the other day and she told me when things started to get really intense, she would just think, "I need to make sure I don't scare M___," since she knew I would be going through the whole process come August/September.  The video makes me cry every time I watch it.

I'm really enjoying the stories and videos, so if anyone else has some to share, feel free!

I love this! The video is so sweet, especially the shots w all the big sisters and, of course, the cat shot. :D

I just love the way they weigh baby at home births! It looks so much more comfy than the cold metal hospital scale. :(

This article about birth photography (which I guess has been covered in the media a lot lately) has some links to examples of some beautiful birth photography.  Is anyone planning on having a birth photographer present for their birth?

I was/am. It will depend on what I can find after we get moved. I really hope I'm able to find someone. I have seen a few photographers post on Craigslist who are trying to expand into birth photography willing to do it for great prices! It can be so beautiful! When its done well, its amazing to be able to capture those moments.
