Best way into the Doula-ing community?!

Thread Starter

I moved to the West Suburbs a few months ago, and am looking to network within the NBC, or really any mom/pregnancy/birthing community in general.

My ultimate goal is to become a doula and provide music therapy assisted childbirth (I am a current MT-BC as well)- I am working towards my doula certification, but am having a hard time finding/breaking into the community. I work closer to downtown, so I am willing to travel to mom groups or meetings!

I don't know where to start! :)

Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks so much,

Lani

There is a facebook group for Chicagoland doulas

If you are starting out as a new doula, joining the Chicago Volunteer Doulas is a great way to get experience and meet other doulas.  Also, I like to attend childbirth classes in my area.  Its a great way to know what clients are learning in their class, and also to connect with an educator that refers moms to doulas.
