Venting here.... had my first appt with new ob/gyn, just wanted to try a new doctor because I never really 'clicked' with my old doc. I'm high risk due to two prior preterm births, bicornuate uterus & short cervix. Thought we'd talk about pregnancy, bedrest, etc, but we spent almost the whole time talking about genetics and being 'advanced maternal age' (37) and early screenings and tests for abnormalities, and what options there are if you do test positive. SO depressing and scary, and did not make me feel excited or make this pregnancy feel real and warm, just cold and intimidating. Ack! I feel so confused and tired.
first appointment today - ?!?!
Oh no! I am the same age as you and I have my first appointment on Friday. I don't know where you live, but here in Seattle, so many women have healthy pregnancies at 37 and beyond. Sorry that the appointment didn't leave you feeling excited. Even though odds are higher over age 35, the odds are still in our favor to have healthy kids. Sometimes docs forget to stop talking 'doctor' talk and to focus on the patient in front of him/her.
So glad your UU hasn't complicated your pregnancies much. Thanks for the link. I had a c-section for my second baby (he was breech), so we all actually saw my uterus (I even have pictures!) and the heart-shaped top (although it was quite lopsided at that time!).
I had my first baby at 32 weeks, she was in the right side, and my second at 36 weeks, he was breech in the left side. I have lots of monitoring, and bedrest as well. Not sure how that will work this time with a toddler!
