help with fever!!

Thread Starter

My 6 month old has had a 100.4 degree (temporal scanner) for about 44hrs.  He is miserable so Over the last 32hrs I've given him several doses of infant ibuprofin.  It brings it down and he acts fine, normal.  My problem is that IDK why he has a fever!  He has no signs of being sick, no runny nose etc.  He's not pulling at his ear like ear infection and doesnt seem to be bothered by noise.  He doesnt appear to be in pain, just uncomfortable from fever.   Should I be worried?  What could this be from?  What is something natural I can do for him?   He doesnt have teeth yet but I just have a hard time believing a child getting teeth can cause a fever.  I dont want to take him to the Dr....

A teething child can develop a low grade fever. Fever is a normal inflammatory reaction of the body -  there doesn't have to be an infection for a fever to develop.

Check Dr. Sears page on teething and see if the other symptoms jive to indicate your babe is teething: http://www.askdrsears.com/topics/childhood-illnesses/teething
