Anyone planning on a fast labor and delivery? - Page 2

I consider it "being in labor" when I start to notice that the contractions aren't going away and that they're getting longer.

I have plenty of BH building up towards the end, but labor contractions feel different.  I consider the start of labor with that first different contraction.  It stretches all the way around, builds to a peak or two or three, and then dissipates.  And they're regular.  I have plenty of mucus and some blood going on with them too.  Last 2 times around, I was fairly chatty and cheerful with 20 minutes of these, then about 10 minutes of transition with my butt in the air and head buried in the floor, 10 minutes of pushing, which is when my water broke.

The first time that it happened so fast, it was difficult to process everything, but the last 2 times, I expected it, so I did the processing beforehand and love my fast labors and births!

How long was your total labor? It sounds like it was really fast.

first labor induced by pitocin at 39 weeks - took 5 hours to feel the first contraction and baby was born 4 hours later.

second baby, water broke at home at 41 weeks, contractions started intense from beginning, baby born 2 hours later exactly (in hospital).

third baby, 41 weeks, felt sudden intestinal upset/crampy, called homebirth midwife at midnight, baby born at 1:14am.

my midwife says my cervix "melts like butter" so despite the fact that its been five and a half years since baby #3, she says "you're not getting a new body" and I should expect another fast labor.  I'd really like her to come over on a date close to 41 weeks and "talk" to my cervix, so that she is at my house and things are set up and it doesn't feel rushed and nerve-wracking wondering if she is going to get here in time.

Labor with ds1 was 23 hours at a birth center in a hospital.

Labor with ds2 was 90 minutes at a free-standing birth center.

Labor with dd1 was 40 minutes at home, UC.

Labor with dd2 was 45 minutes at home with a midwife.

I am hoping for a little faster!

Baby #1 - 1:30am water broke, 4:30pm contractions started, 9pm contractions got painful, born at 3:14am after 2 hours of pushing

Baby #2 - 7:40pm water broke, 11pm contractions started, 12:30am contractions got painful, born at 4:57am after 17 minutes of pushing

Baby #3???  Hopefully quicker!!!

DS 24 hours from first contraction to baby out.

DD 18 hours of very painful contractions (her labor is harder to judge because I'd been having early labor contractions for at least several hours a day for weeks)

I'm really hoping for something quick this time. I'm back to hours of early labor contractions every day and it is demoralizing. I wish I could count on the contractions I'm having now leading to a fast labor but I know for sure it's possible for it not to work that way :(

my labors are on the shorter side. my first i had an epidural and med to slow it down and i still had him in 6 hours from start to finish. my second was 8 hours start to finish and my last was the same. they said my active labors were all only 2.5 hours each. this time i will be at home.  i have been told that this can actually speed it all up since i am in a comfy spot that i know well. i really wouldnt want it to go faster than last time. i really liked how well my body just moved along but not so fast that i tore.
