Luca won't fall asleep in arms. He gets more and more wound up until he reaches freak out mode. So, usually when he's getting tired, he gets popped into the carrier and taken outside for a walk. He won't fall asleep in the house either; he has to be walked around outside. I thought once he started sucking his thumb, we'd be good to go, but he totally lost interest in it. He won't suck on my finger at all. (He's way more into sucking on his big toe, but that's not conducive to falling asleep.) He'll nurse BACK to sleep, but rarely ever anymore nurse to sleep.
Definitely, the more he sleeps, the more he sleeps. I think that's why he'll either sleep 7:30 to 7, or 9 to 6. But sometimes he just won't go down early. We've been pretty lucky the last few days, as he's been crashing b/w 7:30 and 8, and sleeping til almost 7. And thankfully, it looks to cool off later this week. I'm glad my husband is pretty heat tolerant!
I'm going to the library to get the no cry solutions. I read Dr. Sears' sleep book, particularly the nap chapter, but none of that seems to work. It might be just one of those "get through it" kinds of things, and know that one day, sleep will happen for all of us. My daughter now sleeps late into the morning, so I know it will happen someday!
And yes, thanks for the advice.
