I work in a large company, am covered by FMLA, and my state includes SDL for 8 weeks for which I pay into a pool. My firm does pay some maternity leave. I also know that I am incredibly lucky.

It is pretty disgusting how lame our politicians are. Even the right to an unpaid leave would be awesome.

I told today, not officially, but because I was declining a promotion/move. The move would have been annoying and the long leave I want would have made it difficult and I wanted to be truthful about my motifvations.
