Chit chat Thread 5/24

Thread Starter

Someone did one of these awhile back.. maybe we can do it again... weekly... starting on Sundays or something.... I'll try to keep on it:)

Had an appt. today with midwife - so excited to HEAR the heartbeat for the first time.  Had seen it several times, but first time hearing it is so special.  DH was able to come too, so that was extra special.  Nothing else too exciting happened... checked to see if it was okay that I still put my 2 y/o in a wrap to get her to sleep for naptime... tying  the material tightly around my growing belly... didn't want to hurt the little one....  she said it should be fine, might put more pressure on my bladder, but otherwise okay.

Now looking forward to the next ultrasound between 18-22 weeks - I'm at 17 right now.

And tonight I go get some acupuncture - whooooo hooooo!!!!

Hope you all are starting to feel energy and appetites return into the 2nd tri:)

Oh my gosh, I think either the baby or I am having some kind of growth spurt! My belly is huge, I have no room for food in my stomach, and my skin is itchy. I am feeling pretty fat. I am dreading someone saying, "omg, you're only how far along?" wish I could enjoy this, but I never know when it's the right time to just be proud of a big round pregnant belly. greensad.gif 15 weeks seems too early.

I am excited. Just afraid to share it with the outside world. 33 years of trying to suck my stomach in can't be undone in 15 weeks of pregnancy.

Sorry to be a downer in the chat thread!!!

We got to hear the hb last week. I totally cried. It was amazing. We were thinking of being surprised at what we are having, but after hearing the hb, I was so excited to get the ultrasound and see what it is!! smile.gif it's scheduled for June 22.

yay!  chit chat!

DH looked at me today and said, "You did not look like THAT yesterday!"  I was like, "I hope you mean, 'You are looking more radiant and beautiful with each passing day of this pregnancy,' and not, 'Where the hell did that huge belly come from?'" Though I do have to admit I have gone from looking like I could just have a beer gut to undeniably in the family way seemingly overnight.  Hello again, belly bands.

And my boobs are so sore right now.  DS still nurses to sleep despite the fact that I haven't had any milk in over a month.  OUCH!

Really getting excited about the anatomy scan, too.  There has been so much going on lately.  We staged and got a contract on our house, my last day on the job is next week---lots of loose ends to tie up--transitioning to the house-sitting summer gig while we look for the right house.  I just haven't been able to concentrate on what's going on inside my body lately.  We had a triscreen ultrasound, so it was nice to see baby then.  Knowing the sex will help me start bonding more.  I can feel the flutters already, so that's nice.  I seems ridiculous that I need so much "evidence" or whatever to wrap my brain around having another baby...but I do!  I'm getting there.  Just need things to slow down for a little while so I can breathe, and think, and plan.

Take care, mamas.

okay, so I just did the same stupid mistake TWICE! typed out a post and then did a key combination on my mac and instead of jumping to the start of the line the browser went a page backwards and everything was GONE! AAARRRRGH!

so, in short: yay for a chat thread and I commiserate with every ssingle one of you: my belly also exploded overnight, I also heard the hb for the first time this weeks (SAW it before though), I also still nurse my dd to sleep and the disomfort has reached a level of cringy awefulness; I will have my finding-out-scan on june 21 and I also feel like 15 weeks is to early to be showing that much and wish I could have kept it to myself for a liiiittle longer.

on another note: there is tons of stuff going on in our lives at the moment. last week we did this super spontaneous thing and bought an old caravan on ebay. now we'Re fixing it up and making it pretty and maybe we'll go on a little holiday to France next week (we're 10km from the French border, so no big investment there). we'll also be moving into a bigger appartment in november. yeah, I know, november... but we'll cross that bridge when we get there. doesn't really look too promising for another hb though. That is still a big decision ahead. ds was a hb with transfer and c/s, dd was a hwbac (don't you love these acronyms? so awesomely cryptic in a way lol, I remember what it was like when I first joined MDC - I had to have an acronym dictionary open next to the forum to keep up). this time we might go with a mw coordinated clinic birth. we'll see. different topic.

I wrote more in my other posts but will rather click 'submit' now before this one gets lost too!

Fanziska- How exciting on the traveling! And boo on the moving. We moved when DS was less than 1 month old so this time I'm happy to be able to hibernate all winter with the new babe! If DS lets me! winky.gif

Tecsez- Yep, I've had to cut DS to nursing only to fall asleep at naptime. I think since my milk has been gone for 1-2 months he's forgotten how to nurse properly! No amount of "open wide" or "be gentle" seems to help. He leaves little teeth marks on my nipple. greensad.gif Hopefully it gets better but for now we are weaning.

AFM- DS is still sleeping!! I woke up early (for once!) and have gotten so much accomplished! The quiet house while eating my 1st and 2nd breakfast seems so bizarre. I REALLY need to do this more often, it's so peaceful and restful!

Had a midwife appt yesterday (my second) and it was lovely to hear the heartbeat again! Those tiny baby flutters also set my mind at ease but I'm waiting eagerly for the big, strong kicks! I need to call today to schedule my ultrasound and will probably have it around 18-19 weeks since I'm so excited. It will be such a relief to see a healthy baby!

Also- my BF is getting married the beginning of September and I need a turquoise bridesmaids dress! I've looked on all the big maternity clothing websites and found nada. Anyone want to recommend a smaller boutique like place? Need to find a suitable one soon or have one made.

Oh my goodness, I can't imagine moving! I am having a hard enough time figuring out how to rearrange the furniture in this house! We still haven't figured out where everyone will slep.

I had to wean my son about a month ago. It took 2 tries and it was hard and sad but I just couldn't stand the creepy crawly sensation! His latch was terrible as my milk dried up. I was sad to wean him, and now going to sleep is a big challenge... But we are getting through it.

So glad to hear everyone's day to day stuff! It's really reassuring. smile.gif

I can also commiserate with pretty much everyone in this thread.

I'm 16 weeks and feeling some movement, which is fun. Yesterday I had my first stranger ask me if I'm pregnant, so I guess it's becoming more obvious to outsiders. Another woman commented on it this morning, too. They had nice things to say, so I wasn't annoyed :)

My 2.5 y/o son still nurses to sleep and it drives me totally crazy if it lasts more than about two minutes. Some days he asks to nurse and is only on for literally a second before deciding he doesn't want to, so I know that something is different and perhaps he will stop nursing at night soon, too (I hope!).

We've been visiting my ILs this week where we used to live, so it has been nice to have a change of scenery and visit with family and friends. Driving home tomorrow (about 7.5 hours in the car), and I hope it goes as well as our trip up last weekend!

I'm just about 16 weeks, with third baby, and feeling no flutters :-(  With my last I felt her at 14 weeks, so I've been really anticipating that it'll be any day, but I feel nothing.  I feel like I'll be able to connect more with this LO when I can feel it.  I do have a doppler and I can hear the hb any time I need reassurance.  I can also hear kicks and movement too.

I've been feeling movement for a few weeks, how bizarre for me since the earliest I've felt it with the last 3 was about 17 weeks...I'll be 17 weeks on Sunday.

I lay down on my belly sometimes in bed and can feel it a lot like that.

My 15 month old weaned a few weeks ago, so I sympathize.  I felt SO GUILTY since it's the earliest my babies have ever weaned.  But it was horribly painful this time around and I couldn't take it so I kind of didn't really offer at all and just stopped his nighttime nursing one night and he didn't fuss so that was that.  I think my milk dried up quickly, and maybe he nursed less overall, which is why my period came back sooner (at 8 months) and which is why I got pregnant so quickly I guess (considering we weren't TTC).

Anyways, I've been on a buying binge of newborn diapers and maternity clothes.  My last baby was supposed to be our last so I got rid of ALL of my maternity clothes.

But when I started breaking out of my "normal" clothes, I just couldn't deal with forcing my bloated belly into pants and having deep red marks around my waist....so I bought myself a whole summer wardrobe.  Some used from ebay and some things new.  For those for are looking, Motherhood.com is having a buy one get 1 free sale on all clearance.  I got 8 things shipped to me for $66.

3 pants, 3 packs of underwear, a bathing suit top and a cute top.  Not too bad.  The pants just have the band not that crazy 'secret belly' thing so I'll be able to wear them after wards while I'm still looking pregnant.

Anyone have big memorial day plans?  we hope to go to the beach tomorrow, it's supposed to be nice here...

Yay! Chitchat! How did I miss this thread? lol.gif

I am in the same boat as most of you mamas, I am 16 1/2 weeks and I look waaay pregnant, but my belly is kinda jiggly, so I feel like I may just look slobby and gross and not pregnant. greensad.gif

The baby totally squirmed around the other day while I was sitting at the dining table. love.gif For the last few weeks I have been able to poke around my belly and the baby will push back, but that doesn't really count as feeling the baby move.

A girlfriend who just had a baby last month gave me a huge bag of maternity clothes. We have similar bodies and style so I was able to find a lot of cute stuff I can wear for the next 5 months. I passed the rest of it on to another girlfriend who has two pregnant friends.

Although we started out this pregnancy with UP/UC plans, my instinct was telling me that I needed to find a really good, hands off midwife. We interviewed several and found a pair of really awesome midwives! That's saying a lot because as a midwifery student and a mother, I have interviewed and worked with a ton of midwives. They both loved that we have had UC's and they are both super cool with how we want to do things. I was very, very anxious about a midwife disrupting what my husband and I have built together with our other births. But I am not worried about that AT ALL with these lovely ladies. orngbiggrin.gif

I have been going through my diaper stash and realized I could make a few hundred selling what I won't be using this time on ebay. I have my listings all ready to go, I just need to take some pictures, which I totally suck at. I need the cash though so I can put it towards the AIO's I need.

In non-pregnancy news, we have working on tails off to get our garden in this week. treehugger.gif We just bought this house in November and on top of the extensive renovations we are working on, we have 3 trees we needed to remove and a huge area to be prepped for seasonal gardening, perennial beds, herb beds and fruit trees. So we got the plowing done and last night we finished planting 20 tomatoes, 36 honeydews, 12 cantaloupes, 12 watermelons, 12 corn, 6 kale, 4 tomatillo, 6 ground cherry, 6 hot peppers, 12 sweet peppers. I still have artichoke, strawberry, greens, corn, peas, beans, cucumbers, carrots, radishes, giant sunflower, sunberry, jelly melon (and some other stuff I am sure forgetting at this point) that all need to go in the ground by the end of the weekend.

I'm about 17 weeks and I feel this baby ALL of the time... My sister thinks that I ovulated twice and that I'm further along in this pregnancy than I think.  I hope she's right.  I hadn't had my period for two months and I'm always "off".  My sister and I are close enough, and spend enough time together that she'd gotten to a point where she could predict my cycle, lol. Over the past two days, when I'm sitting still (which I do a lot at night while writing a paper on Buddhism for my yoga teacher training) I have been feeling his

CONSTANT flutters.  It's awesome and makes me feel like my huge tummy is justified, lol.
