I know there was a thread like this a few pages back, but I can't seem to find it.
I took a very minimalist approach with my other kids. Mama, diapers, clothes, Ergo and a carseat. That's pretty much it. Somewhere along the way I've been gifted an organic nursing pillow, a convertible vibrating seat and a gorgeous cradle (hardly used this). This will be our 4th, and while every baby has had different needs, MY needs have been the same, and many of them haven't been met. Now that DH and have discussed our family size (babies until menopause!), it looks like we could very well be welcoming at least 4-5 more children into our family in the next 10-15 years.
So I feel ready to make the commitment to purchasing some very specific pregnancy/baby items, as frugally as possible . And, to be honest, having a fourth changes the game for our family, in so many ways. Like needing a van. Our Subaru Outback just isn't going to have enough seats. My list is pretty long and has some pricy items, but some items are so old they need replacing anyway, like my Ergo and our mattress. I've already been able to find a few things for free or super cheap off Craigslist.
On my list:
Ergo (mine is 7 years old and nearly shot)
Ergo infant insert
Ergo weather cover
BumGenius Elementals - 48 36 (selling my dipe stash to buy these)
GroVia Newborn AIO's - 36 19 2
Cloth-diaper diaper bag
Crib (for sidecarring the toddler)
Changing table station
Comfy Nursing Chair
Twin Wool Blanket (to sleep on postpartum)
Mattress ("green" foam mattress is 7 years old and totally compressed)
Breatspump (to pre-pump before I nurse, I have crazy foremilk and we always end up in the gastroenterologists office with our babies for intestinal bleeding due to my milk)
Bellefit postpartum belly band
Nursing bras (I have DD breasts that get Ginormous when I'm nursing. seriously, people stare)
Cloth yoni pads (mine are shot and also not heavy duty enough for my crazy long postpartum bleeding, 10-14 weeks!)
Full size freezer
For the Family:
Full size van - used and OLD of course, it's gotta be something DH can work on. I'm loving the 69 Dodge A 108's.
Anybody else taking a new or different approach to gear this time?
eta: mark items off of my list.
