travelmumma and nhklh-So glad to hear you mamas are feeling better!

libsmama-I am so happy for you that you found a doctor you are comfortable with!

Hope you mamas are having a great Sunday!

The pool where we live opened yesterday. I researched chorine absorption, and since it's an unheated, outdoor pool, it's plenty safe. Only thing is the water is quite cold. For the second day in a row, DD gets in only to get out to warm up 5 minutes later. Hopefully it will warm up soon.

Anyone else going to be swimming?

I spoke too soon!  Woke up feeling pukey again today.  Blergh.

We usually swim regularly but haven't lately, should start going again (indoor heated pool).

Honestly glad to hear that some other moms are still feeling gross, misery does love some company. I'm feeling more sick than I did with DD though feel like I shouldn't complain since I'm not actually throwing up. It was hot yesterday afternoon and I couldnt eat enough to make it through the night and proceeded to wake up every hour and eat. Waah! Really hoping to feel better in a few weeks (just 8w6d EDD 12/31).

My other overwhelming concern is that I really wish for another little girl and already feel bad about this baby if he isn't a girl! I will def be finding out in about twelve weeks so I can be ready!

I'm already looking at maternity swimsuits!  I didn't know about the chlorine issue... so swimming in an indoor, heated pool would not be safe?

Thanks for the website love, ladies! I'm so blessed to be able to stay at home and do what I love!

I wish you all would start feeling better!! Hopefully by the end of next month you all will!! Then we can all cruise into that 2nd trimester! Can you guys believe how fast this is going? Time's flying by over here.

I'm needing to get a maternity suit, like yesterday! I'm going back home, (IL,) in a week and my dad has already opened up his pool. My only suit I have right now is a tummy concealer/restricter kind, and that does not sound like fun at all to even try on! I know I'm going to shell out a ton of money for this, but I think it will be worth it since we'll be at the pool a lot more now that my 5 year old will be taking swim lessons.

I am still feeling ick here too mamas Bolt.gif<--- that is me running to puke every five minutes...today my three year old walked in on me and said "Mama, why do you keep using the potty with your face?"

I have this really cute green maternity tankini set I scored back when I was pregnant with Emmy and I loooove it....I just don't feel comfortable being far enough away from my toilet to enjoy going to the pool :(

Purposefuldoula and kaliki kila-good luck on the swimsuit hunt mamas!

nhklh- so sorry you're back under the weather mama :(

mtnlisa-Yeah, I'm 10 weeks 2 days and I am a hot mess...this is definitely the worst morning sickness I have ever had, hang in there, it has got to get better right?

bawling.gif I am having an overly emotional pregnant lady moment right now.

We just went into DHs work (we have lots of friends there because I used to work there too) and I wore my "Oops i ate a watermelon seed" shirt....

I took my jacket off and no one noticed :( Then I pointed it to my friend who said "Oh is that a sticker on your shirt"..... Then he went "Oh should i just make the obvious logical connection? I kinda knew already"

Apparently he had kinda found out through Facebook. I wrote in a private group about home births and asking for doctor recommendations... I got told by the group that it was a private group... Anyway he saw that post.

Didn't congratulate us or hug us or anything...

Im just feeling down today. gloomy.gif

Hugs. hug2.gif Guys (especially ones with no children) are just kind of clueless about how exciting and life changing this is. Hopefully you get better responses from the women. smile.gif I'm sorry.

Wow, I am a label reader and I am always researching the safest, healthiest way to raise my children and I can say that it has NEVER crossed my mind that the pool could not be safe for us! Interesting. Food for thought I guess. It looks like this summer will mostly be visits to the lake anyway.

My other babies have all been summer babies. With my last pregnancy my third trimester went from about Memorial Day to Labor Day and with three other kids (I had my 2 plus a foster baby at the time) to keep entertained we spent tons of time at the pool. I am so bummed that I got rid of my maternity suit thinking we were done.

Well, I hit 12 weeks today! biggrinbounce.gif  I can say that as long as I don't get too tired or too hungry then I feel pretty good (but honestly that is pretty much how I was before I was pregnant) but if I don't catch it in time....it's all about headaches and grumpiness and nausea. Hey speaking of eating, what are your favorite "go to" snacks? Nothing sounds really good to me these days. I go from the cupboards to the pantry to the refrigerator to the fruit bowl and don't find anything that sounds/looks good. Suggestions? DH makes fantastic hummus (traditional and a black bean version) so that works a few times a week when it is available. Other than that I usually end up with crackers, cheese and a piece of fruit because I can't find anything else that I want!

Oh hommus sounds soooooo good right now!
Yoghurt is my snack right now.

Question- is anyone else really easily out of breathe when going on walks!? DH and I just went for a midnight walk and I was like a swollen hippo with asthma
post #12 of 84

travelmumma - I have been out of breath for weeks, and it seems so weird because I'm not totally out of shape (yet). I've definitely felt very tired this time too. Just had hummus and yogurt yesterday too! Also, when I told my own sister, I didn't even get a 'congratulations', just "I thought you didn't want any more kids". Bummer!

Feel like I've gained 10 pounds, but the scale doesn't agree. Guess I'm just bloated? The thought of wearing a swimsuit sounds, well, humbling.

I'm with all of you sick, constantly eating ladies. The B12 injections have been helping, though I get a bit queasy each time I do one (it's the needle thing). I actually HAVE gained 10 pounds at 10w7d, I got curious yesterday and stepped on a scale. Probably because almost everything that sounds good to eat is SUGAR. Cake, graham crackers, eating more wheat than I have in years (I was practically GF before this pregnancy!). I'm not worried, it's actually funnyo to me, and the plus is that all the weight went right to my tummy, so I actually look pregnant lol.

Travelmumma, every moment is an emotional pregnant moment for me - I can relate. I have gotten some of the same, but also plenty of people who are excited & congratulatory. You will find them, too :)

Travelmumma, I don't think anyone can really get it, as they say. I look back over the words and help I offered to pregnant friends and relatives before I had my DD and find it woefully inadequate. It's just so hard to be so emotional too!

Nos I'm having the same experience with just one peanut! I can't eat enough, but yesterday choked down chicken for dinner and slept much better.

Not out of breath yet but been feeling so crummy that I haven't had the need for much oxygen! We are thinking about heading to the pool today too!

tropicana - my go to snacks have been raisin bran, string cheese, apples, and crackers

I'm 12 weeks today!  joy.gif  My stomach has popped and I have that vertical line below my belly button.  DH is taking me to Motherhood Maternity today because they are having some Memorial Day sales and my pants are getting tight.  Maybe I will find a swimsuit, too!

travelmumma, I just want to tell you to enjoy these sweet times with your DH. That was one of the biggest adjustments for me with my first...that we couldn't just wake up at the crack of dawn and take the dog for a long walk or put on our walking shoes at 10 p.m. and walk the trails (we lived in the desert at the time and really couldn't walk mid-day). I am all about not waking a sleeping baby so we gave up our walks for quite some time. Of course now we all do family walks after dinner and it is great to be at this point again but I missed the freedom of walking with DH whenever we wanted.

Enjoy it (swollen hippo and all)! winky.gif

Being a bottomless pit is totally normal and if you are having twins, I think it is doubly normal.  I keep a stash of raw almonds on my bedstand to munch in the night because they are good for me and that way I can just chew a few of them up and conk back out.  Well, sort of.  Usually I have to go pee, too.  But it does help me get back to sleep promptly.

I've gained 8 lbs at 10 weeks +.  That's normal for me.  I need to eat very frequently to deal with feeling horrid, and then I slow down a bit in the 2nd/3rd trimester . . . and then I have my babies early.  So I'm right on track to gain between 30 - 40 lbs which was pretty endurable and relatively healthy for me in my other 3 pgs.

I feel awful today.  Yesterday I mostly sat on the couch and read while my kids played and DH did stuff.  That made me feel GREAT!  Where is that nanny and housemaid all those 19th century novels promised me?!?!  Maybe if I could sit on the couch and distract myself all the time I'd feel great all the time!

I did this every night until I hit about 11 weeks (and I am only having one). Now I just try to eat extra before I go to bed in hopes that it is enough to get me through.
I don't know if you plan on breastfeeding but my need to eat/drink was even stronger when I was nursing in those first few months. I would get up to nurse the baby and then have to head to the kitchen for food (and I still lost all the baby weight).

And yes, your LO's are having a growth spurt and it will last another 6 months or so. biggrinbounce.gif

travelmumma- hug.gif mama, I totally would have cried too...sometimes I forget that not everyone is as neurotic and sensitive as me, and especially right now, I feel like my skin has been turned inside out as I feel really extra sensitive. And heck yes! I have been soooooo fetching out of breath I can barely stand it.

tropicana- I am with you about the pool thing, it never really occured to me that there could be safety issues...as for snacks, I really like greek yogurt with pistachios, frozen raspberries, flax seed, and honey, I make these super quick cheese enchiladas which I have been craving, and really anything REALLY SPICY like I am attached at the hip to my habenero hot sauce and sriracha at the moment-my DH makes these awesome spicy peanut buckwheat soba noodles and so he has been making big bathces and leaving them in the fridge so I can dip into them when I need to, right now I have a magical window from 2-7 where I can eat, anything before or after that and I am on my knees praying to the porcelain goddess in my bathroom :(

nosreves-Thanks mama!! I wish you were closer, I would totally teach you how to sew!

segolily-I hear you on eating things I normally wouldn't! The only exception is right now anything sugary and carb-y is my mortal enemy so at least I don't have to worry about locking myself in a bathroom with a fork and a cheesecake eat.gif

kaliki- Happy bargain hunting mama!

mamabeakley- If you find that nanny, pin her down until I get there, she hasn't showed up for work in years, lol!

Hope y'all have a GREAT loooong weekend (in the US) and a happy Monday everywhere else! :)
