I am on Lo Loestrin Fe. I am having lots of egg white CF. I don't remember this ever happening on my old pills. Has anyone else experienced this?

So according to TCOYF- "How birth control pills work" I should not have fertile CF or really any CF. I am so confused.

From what I have read about birth conrol pills, they work to prevent pregnancy in several different ways: first they attempt to suppress ovulation hormonally. In case that fails, they also work to reduce cervical mucus so that even if you ovulated you would be less likely to get pregnant. Birth control pills are also mildly chemically abortifacient, meaning that if you did ovulate and you did conceive, the pill would also work to prevent implantation. That said, people still get pregnant on the pill. Even if you have a lot of cervical mucous, if it is milky/creamy it is not fertile. But if it is true eggwhite (clear/stretchy) then it's possible that the part of the pill that suppresses ovulation has failed. I found that I was much more confident about my fertility status and felt much safer about postponing pregnancy when I got off the pill and started charting my cycles. Hope some of this helps!

UGH! The BC pills I have been taking were free samples that my OBGYN gave me to help me save money. I just noticed yesterday that they are expired. I have been taking expired pills for 4 months. Maybe that explains my fertile CF! Luckily I am not pregnant.
