Before bed snacks!

Thread Starter

I'm in rut and need some new ideas. I'm still a little nauseous at the end of the day and can't think of anything appetizing before bed, and if I don't eat enough I wake in the middle of the night nauseous and hungry.

I'm relying on peanut butter on toast right now, or avacado on toast.

What are you ladies eating before bed?

it seems to always be yogurt for me. Whole milk...with fresh berries or granola. It's my go-to if I get woken up in the middle of the night by hunger too. It used to always be peanut butter sandwiches though.

Mine is more of an evening snack bc if I eat bf bed I get heartburn...

Here are some ideas.... Pizza crackers (healthy crackers, spaghetti sauce, and cheese); hard boiled eggs, banana and peanut butter, celery and cream cheese, cheese and crackers and apples, fruit smoothie, pasta salad.

Mmm cheese on apples sound so yum!

I like to have cottage cheese and fruit or heavy cream on berries or peaches. Mmmm. Unfortunately, evening is when I tend to eat my junk food for the day. But lately I've been trying to have fruit instead of the junk. And that's not so hard now that such amazing fruit is coming to market!!

I love peanut butter toast. Before I had my DD, I read that it was a good labor food for vegetarians. So I tried it out before hand and became obsessed with it. it is indeed what I ate when I went into labor and right after she was born. And like every morning for months after. LOL. But I still like it. :-) I also like PB on a corn tortilla then rolled up.

Cream cheese on triscuits is my newest craving. The dang store was sold out of cream cheese today though!

I've been addicted to sandwiches.  Today's was avocado, cream cheese, turkey, alfalfa sprouts and red onions.  The other day I made turkey, cream cheese, sprouts, and pepperoncini wraps, which was also delicious.  And right now, I think I'm going to go open that bag of multi grain chips I bought and devour the hummus that's in the fridge!

Sounds so good, Angel! I'm loving sandwiches too, especially with thick slices of tomato on them. Also can't get enough of cream cheese!

My other faves right now are fresh strawberries! Delicious!

You guys are killing me with the cream cheese talk! I bought turkey for the first time in like 8 yrs yesterday with the intention of making a sandwich today. Cream cheese and turkey sounds so good! Darn the store for being out of it!

Vegan Princess: Does this pregnancy have you craving meat? For the first time in my life the smell of certain meats like fajitas, grilled chicken, and weenies have my mouth watering. LOL

I can't bring myself to eat it because it's been 14 yrs since I've eaten meat but it sure smells good! I was vegan, mostly raw, before this pregnancy and now I'm eating some cheese.

Most of the time I don't eat dinner because I'm not hungry after 4pm, so I wake up starving around 3 am.

Right now I can't get enough of Pickle flavored pringles. I keep them by my bed. Not healthy but I love the salt and sour taste of them. I'm also eating a lot of banana with peanut, almond, or cashew butter. I keep the little packets of nut butter and bananas by my bed too. If I physically get up to eat I will be up all night.

Vegchica: I was mostly raw vegan when I got pregnant w/DD 4 yrs ago. I was eating eggs and cheese by the end of that pregnancy and never went back to being vegan. I lost a lot of weight while nursing and just found it so hard to give up dairy when I tried. Then it came time to conceive again (and it took FOREVER) and I knew I didn't want to be vegan while pregnant. I didn't crave meat at all last time. This time the cravings have been REALLY strong for meat! Like they were really strong for eggs last time. So after tons of obsessing about what to do, I finally decided that maybe I should just eat some - I could always go back to being veg. I think it had been 7+ yrs since I'd had meat. But now that I'm eating it, the cravings def are gone. I had my iron checked and it was fine, but I wonder if my body just wanted more protein? Or it could have just been a comfort thing since I did grow up eating meat (until I was 15). So yep, I'm eating it. But hoping to go back to being veg again after baby is here. And my 3 yr old veggie girl refuses to eat it - which I am so glad about bc I am so scared she will try it and love it and then I will go veg again and have to make it for her (DH does all the meat touching and preparation - mostly outside on the bbq).
