Could this be implantation bleeding?

I tried to post a comment to a similar old post but it was locked...I'm brand new here; ttc for 18 months and no dice.  This month I sort of gave up and stopped obsessing.  Yesterday, I had very light spotting and then cramps that became progressively worse throughout the day.  At the end of the day, they were severe for about 3 hours.  I was 9 days early for my period yesterday.  Today, 8 days before my period is due, I had a little bit of bleeding occur while using the bathroom then it stopped.  The cramps are pretty much gone but this has never happened before (cramping and bleeding so far ahead of when my period is due).  Are there any other signs that this could be implantation bleeding?  Could it be anything else?

Any time your stress levels change, your cycle can do crazy things.  I had nothing but light spotting for one cycle, and I thought it was implantation bleeding.  It was in fact a period. 

I don't know how long your cycles are, but it sounds a little early for implantation bleeding, though everyone is different.  At the same time, if your cycles are very regular and have been for some time, there's a good chance something is going on.

Personally, I think it sounds somewhat hopeful, but there's unfortunately nothing you can do but wait and test.  Good luck and keep us posted!

Thanks very much for your opinion, LilyTiger.  My cycle is consistently 27 days.  Once or twice it's been 28 days.  This cramping and bleeding is only at day 19 & day 20 of my cycle. I will wait and test next week.  In the meantime, I've called my OBGYN...
