Did you send a not quite potty trained kid to preschool?

How did that go?  Anyone ever send a kid who was say 60 - 80% potty trained to a preschool that requires them to be potty trained? 

DS is 99% trained at home, but the daycare has no set potty routine.  The preschool does, and I think this may be what DS needs to finish up.  He needs all the kids to line up and walk to the bathroom together.  What kid wants to leave their toys and go to the bathroom by themselves ony to get back and the toy they were playing with is now in the hands of another. 

Just wondering if there is experience with this here.

The pre school my boys went to had no routine. There was only one potty, so you went when you had to. If it was an emergency they could run the kiddo to another one in the rec center. There was a kiddo that wound up dis enrolled in my sons class for not being fully ready.

I'd enroll my child.  It sounds like the system at his new school is exactly what he needs.  I'd make sure you have a full change of clothes there every day just in case there is an accident.  But most kids have an accident here and there, so that's normal.

My oldest was not 100%. I asked the preschool what to do, and they said that it was common and to send her anyway, so I did.

I did and all was well. The only issue DS had at that time was being able to wipe himself after pooping. He's fairly regular with that schedule and I didn't think he would ever have to go during school hours. (And he hasn't). The teachers at our school will assist the kids if there is a problem though, even though they require a child be potty independent. It's very common from what I've seen.

Our kids train early and during that time the parent is there. When we transitioned to the 3y morning class I was worried because the school is too relaxed on the subject for my taste. So... we went as soon as we got to school, I requested he be taken to the potty every day before snack and he had to try, and then he went at pickup. No accidents ever at school for two full years except once, this horrendous poop accident a few weeks ago several years iafter potty training.  He said he knew he had to go but he was having fun and it had been so long since an accidendt he wasn't really prepared for the consequences. Well, now that he knows what happens he "never wants that to happen again."

Go for it, but send extra clothes for an accident. My kid only pees like 2-3 times a day, usually outside preschool hours. The one time he did have an accident at school  was after coming inside from play in the snow.

I would send him.  Mine is fully trained, except at sleep time.  He takes 3 hour naps at home and will wet, but at school they are much shorter naps so I am hoping there won't be any accidents!
