recs for fashioning carrier for older child (6)

Thread Starter

we're trying to hike a lot these days, with DSes aged 6 and 9.  my younger DS does great, but sometimes needs a piggyback.  i find that the part that tires me the most in carrying him are my arms, and think that i could do it more easily with some fabric assistance:)  i'd love any suggestions for fashioning something that would work for me to hold him more easily in a piggyback position, considering his weight (43 lbs).  any ideas?

thanks!

How are you with wrapping?  A sturdy woven wrap would work, and be easier to carry on a hike (added bonus, it can be used as a blanket for a picnic).

A toddler sized bamberoo could really help. My sister has one, and they fit big toddlers (large 3 y/o and up) and school aged kids.

Kindercarry has preschool soft structured carriers that go to 50lbs and they are fantastic carriers. Highly recommend.
