Have you nursed in the RS yet? I really want to figure that out since DD does not want me to put her down all day when it's just me and her. Congrats on vacuuming the house! Very exciting- I hope I get the hang of doing houseworsoon.

Yay for getting a slot! Which one did you decide on? I am tempted to order a water sling as well ~ I love all the colors!

Bah! I missed it! I saw your post here Meredith (thanks for posting, btw!) but while I waited for my husband to get home with his credit card (since I forgot my pin for my chip card and kind of got it blocked... erm, last year...) the stock sold out. Bah humbug.

On the other hand, she had 14 slots available within just a couple of days of when I last checked, so Im sure I can get something soon! Obviously in high demand- which is, of course, awesome.

Let's see, I have a MonkeyWear wrap, a CuddlyWrap, a generic UV proof ring sling.

And soon I'll have another home made ring sling when I figure out my sewing machine.

Nursing with baby in carrier yet to come! I am just proud he seems to be in it "right" and that his chin doesn't slump onto his chest.

You have some awesome wraps, Maryam! I want to try a wrap, too, but I'll proabbaly wait to get one till the fall, since it's so warm now. I Finally got my driver's liscence so I think I will try and attend a local-ish babywearing meeting.

i NURSE IN THE rs all th time. (sorry NAK) I have a video I made as to how to use the RS if yall want to see. I will delete it after though as I like to be anonymous on MDC.

Sosu, I'd love to see the video!

I can nurse in a wrap now. I put the wrap on the way I like it, and just sort of tuck him down into the front, with the material very loose. Then I just hold him while he's nursing, and then- very slowly- tie the wrap around him in whatever position he's currently in. It can take some finagling, and he often gets jostled and loses his latch a few times in the process, but I'm getting better.

Won't let me upload it from my comp only from a website and I don't have it on a website...I made it to help out a friend. That is stupid!

definitely check out the babywearing meeting! also, there are certain wraps that are known to be good for hot weather. there are a lot of great threads about this on thebabywearer.com forums or I can tell you what I've learned, if you're interested. I think Girasols would be perfect for autumn in the Midwest.

also, there's a great babywearing swap (b/s/t) group on Facebook. I can try linking to it if anyone's interested.

I got my RS today from SBP and it is so pretty! It came with an instruction booklet and a dvd to teach me how to wear it and all of the different positions I can have DS in. As soon as I watch the video and figure out how to properly secure baby Deacon in it, I will post a pic :-)

Maryam - you ordered a Vat? what length? I'd love to try it out when Ezri comes home. I've been drooling over them, but haven't been able to find one used, and didn't want to pay retail w/o trying it first.

I dont remember if I detailed my stash on this thread... And i'm sitting in the hospital pumping, so I'm not gonna go look.

I have an Onbuhimo, which was my fave for back carries until DS git too heavy.
A half- buckle Tei (buckle waist, strap shoulder) - not my fave for everyday, but great support for hiking.
I have a Moby and another brand that I'm drawing a blank on, but is almost identical.
A pleated shoulder RS.
2 woven wraps, and my sleep deprived brain is refusing me the brands on these, I'll look them up later. ETA: (a Natibaby Sea Green and a Girasol Folia)
And a Rebozo shorty, which is too short for me, so I've never used it.

Oh, and I forgot the water RS.

of course! it's 4.5 meters. I was lucky enough to find it used on the Facebook b/s/t group so I paid a little (but not much) under retail. the one I wanted (aialik whales) isn't sold anymore and, so that's why I looked for a used one. at least the resale value is high in case any of the wraps I buy don't work out. if you like the Vat I can always keep an eye out to see if one comes up used.

I'd love to see what the Natibaby wraps like! and maybe once K is bigger, I'll look into getting a Mei Tai or half-buckle.

I love the RS! I somehow got it all twisted up and had to re-thread it today and am still getting the hang of adjusting it just right but overall I think it is great. Here is a pic - as you can see, baby is about to fall asleep in it! He could barely keep his eyes open in this pic.

I really liked the rainbow stripes, but DH doesn't want to wear pink and purple rainbow stripes out. He wants the Ergo.

  • So cute! So it woven? I love the look of the shoulder on that!

That is how Jan of Sleeping Baby Productions does all of her shoulders - in that pleated style. Upon request she will do something else called Eesti or something too.

The sling I got is actually a Lenny Lamb cotton bamboo wrap that Jan converted into a Ring Sling. You can send her a wrap you already have and she'll make it into a RS or you can just order the whole thing on her site. I'm a huge SBP fan now. :-)

Vs?

She had linen and some silk last I looked, and she'll make a sling from fabric you provide, so it could be anything. The one Meredith has is a wrap conversion ring sling, which she does a lot of. She actually stocks wraps specifically for converting. I believe she only stocks cotton wraps, but wraps can come in a range of fibers, and she'll work with any of them.

Sky - i dont think you have to wait for 8 lbs if she doesnt have medical issues... Does she have head control? I've seen them being used in the NICU for kangaroo care, and not all those babies are over 8 lbs.
