Admit it- who's trying to encourage labor this weekend?

While I'm officially "due" June 4th or 9th (depending on which date you're using), I would really like to get things going this weekend. Sleeping has not been going well and I would much rather get the kind of sleep where you have to wake up every two hours to feed the baby but aren't pregnant than the kind where you toss and turn all night.

All three of our boys were born at 39 weeks, so I do have a chance of going before the EDD. Dd, however was born three days after the EDD.

I've been taking evening primrose oil orally for the past two weeks, sporadically doing it internally. I've been taking raspberry leaf capsules for about the same amount of time, since I can't seem to get myself to make tea. I've been having contractions at night, but not enough to make me unpregnant.

Any other suggestions? What are our other moms who are due in the beginning of June trying?

I was talking to my midwife about this today:) I am 39 +1 today and would like to go into labour this week. (the week I am due the midwives on call are all ones from another team as they are covering for an unexpected absence of one of the midwives on my team) Sooo.. I am trying evening primrose oil (3 x orally and once at night internally), higher concentration RRL tea throughout the day, some long walks, and as much sex as my poor hubby can handle:)

I will not be trying to get things going for a few weeks yet. But if I want to, I will see a friend who is an acupuncturist. I'm told a few treatments over the course of a few days clears the blocked energy channels.

I'm due on 6/4 and I'm trying for a VBAC so I have until 41 weeks... I've been doing EPO orally since 37 weeks and RRL/Nettles infusions. I'm going to acupuncture on Sat. & Mon. (worked last time). My homeopath and I have been discussing using a remedy next week. My midwife offered sweeping my membranes but I declined until next week.

Yes! I'm due on Sunday....6/3. But a few days ago she checked and I'm still at a 1 and baby is still high. Also been doing EPO and RRL tea. This weekend my midwife suggested sex, nipple stimulation, orgasm....

My first was 41 weeks. My water broke and my cervix stayed closed up tight. Ended up with pitocin that STILL didn't get things going for over 24 hours. So my midwife is encouraging me to do everything that will ripen the cervix.

Good luck ladies!

I'm not due until the 14th and I'm going to the Vineyard with a bunch of amazing girlfriends this weekend-- so I'm doing the opposite...trying to keep this baby in until after I get some beach/cafe/girl/alone time!  My midwife gave me the go-ahead, but I am a little nervous that I'll go into labor when the ferry isn't running.  So if you all send me stay-baby thoughts, I'll totally send my come-on-baby thoughts to you!!  :)

I just ate some extremely spicy Kim-Chee and I had strong contractions a few minutes later.

I will probably start trying some natural techniques if I don't go into labor by 39 weeks (a week from tomorrow). Keep the ideas coming!

Today:

3pm- 1000mg oral EPO

7pm- Dose of caulophyllum, 30 min walk with kids.

8pm- Dose of caulophyllum, went out and picked up food.

9pm- Dose of cimifuga followed by a dose of caulophyllum. Am sitting on the exercise ball in front of the computer. A few little contractions, but nothing exciting. Started watching Alien 3 with dh.

10pm- 1000mg oral EPO. Dose of caulophyllum. Back to sitting on exercise ball and watching movie with dh. Moved to the couch and had a couple of decent contractions.

11pm- Last dose of caulophyllum for today. Going to finish watching the movie with dh and go to bed. I'd like to wake up really in labor, but we'll see.

Hmmm.... daily 3 mile walks that are fast and hilly, frequent sex and orgasm, almost every meal has included chili powder or wasabi, lots of balance ball time, weeding the garden for hours.... doing everything we "can" but in reality it feels like things are out of my hands! I won't take castor oil unless my water breaks like with DS. This weekend would be awesome but I will be patient (not due until the 17th anyway). If we got closer to my due date, which would shock me, I would definitely get more hard core about speeding things along. DH is starting to get freaked our about the sex cause he can feel things changing down there lol... I keep assuring him that no the baby will not be "popping out" without us knowing it. Good luck ladies!

I'm curious about why you are doing everything you can if you aren't due till the 17th. Is this your first baby or do you usually go early?

I usually go early (2 weeks). Otherwise it is just good-natured excitement.... which is why the extent of "doing what I can" is things I usually do (exercise, spicy food, and sex). I probably have some anxiety about going late too since my mother lost her second baby to stillbirth a week after her due date.... but given my history of an early fast birth I am hoping to not go down that emotional road. We are just excited to meet baby boy #2 and following our gut about when he wants to arrive, letting him know I am ready if he is, and he is welcome!

What number baby is this for you Alexandria?

#2. so my "history" of being early isn't very deep, but symptoms point to it happening again.... or not! can't know can we.

I'm going to be near a Trader Joe's today, so I think I'll test out the fresh pineapple "myth" this afternoon.

i have been eating fresh pineapple. but only bc i crave it. i am not trying to start anything and i am only 36 weeks. last pregnancy i ate pineapple for weeks before i went into labor.

I don't really know if any of the myths or old wife tails really work but I do find it interesting that a lot of those foods are craved anyhow during the last part of pregnancy and the frenzy of activity fits with the nesting urge.

I am feeling it today!

This is my first. I am 38 weeks so it could be any day now or it could be weeks from now (please God, not weeks from now!). I am pretty uncomfortable and ready to be not pregnant, but on the other hand, I don't want to rush him if he isn't fully 'cooked,' yet. smile.gif My midwife hasn't checked yet to see if I am dilated or anything and I don't think she will unless I ask her to, which I like, but on the other hand, part of me is curious.

I have been having lots of mucus discharge but no blood (sorry if that is TMI!) and yesterday it was beautiful outside (sunny and 75) so I went for a longish waddle with my Mom (who came to visit us for a few days to fill our freezer with food--which is totally rockin'!) and I started having like real legit contractions. They felt like strong cramping/squeezing sensation low down and came in waves. When I wasn't walking I continued to get them, but less regularly and they weren't as strong. I had some over night and have had some today but still irregular and not super strong. shrug.gif

I would love to get this show on the road, but I don't want to try anything too extreme, so I am just drinking lots of water, having sex, walking as much as possible and I have also been using some acupressure points that my friend who is an acupuncturist suggested.

What do you think, ladies? Should I be hopeful?

Me too!  I'm 39+1 with my first so I'm not that hopefully it will happen this weekend but it sure would be nice if it did!

I haven't really started doing anything yet but I plan on walking a lot this weekend, and starting taking EPO (I was too lazy to go out in the rain today or I would have started it today).

It can be common to get waves of contractions in the last few weeks. I know you don't want it to be a few more weeks but maybe get more comfortable with that idea so the waiting doesn't kill ya. smile.gif
