Admit it- who's trying to encourage labor this weekend? - Page 2

I am not due until the end of the month, so I still need my baby to stay put!

I am always tempted by some of these labor-starters, but I don't really do them.  I'm afraid of starting something too soon and then my body not being ready and labor being longer than it needs to be!  I have nothing to base that on though and I'm just hoping for a baby by July 6th, which will put me at 41w1d!  My first was born 40w1d and my second was 41w5d.  I'm not expecting a before 40w baby at all.

I ended up cracking and asking my midwife to check my cervix when I went over for my appointment this morning. She said it was anterior, 80% effaced and 3-4cm, with the baby at -1 station.

*sigh* I know that it could be weeks still with me. . .but since yesterday I have had what feels like menstrual cramps constantly (a constant aching and cramping) and last night I couldn't sleep much because of the cramping and the contractions (which are getting stronger but are still irregular). No bloody show, no mucus plug, no water breaking, though. Contractions come and go. . .is this constant cramping normal? I would hate to have to live with this for several weeks. . . .

Your description pretty much matches what I've been going through this past week off and on. From what I've heard it is completely normal to have the constant crampiness - from other women and my midwife. This is my second baby but the first time around I had nothing until my water broke. So this is a very different experience for me. It makes me wonder how long this will go on for. I'm just going to try and expect that it will go on for awhile - that way I won't be disappointed if it does go on for weeks. I'm not due until the 16th - but I did go a week early with my first.
