I swear it depends on what I am wearing. I am a plus sized Mom.. but pear shaped with my weight being carried in my bum/hips and flat on top. So this bowling ball belly - is weird.
To Michelle Renee I am so feeling you lady...I had potato chip hips pp, which was slowly get'n smaller due to my weight loss challenge....Now that I'm 25wks I'm having some self concious feelings about myself...I don't know if you had this same problem pp as I'm fixing to say but I'm hoping as I get further along this changes....I had a c-section with our first son so I had a muffin top belly before this pregnacy....well my stomach is growing and get'n harder but that area is till not hard...I'm scared it never will because of the extra weight down there before....Have you had this issue? oh and on the depending on what you are wearing as to how big your belly shows I have the same issue....I can wear some L shirts that show my belly good, but the XL shirts look like I'm an just a huge whale and I've just gained alot of weight and not because I have a precious miracle growing inside....I'm having alot of trouble with Maternity underwear as well....I bought some from Motherhood Maternity well they are't what I call briefs they are more like hip ones...I got to have my undies pulled up all over my belly can't have any that only cover half my stomach make my pants look weird and my stomach still kinda outta proportion I hope you can give me some hope that my tummy is going to eventually be a round big beach ball and no curves in it.....
So on the left, in the yellow shirt, is me at 27 weeks with my son (3 years ago). On the right is me at 27something with my current baby. I honestly didn't realize the size difference until I put the two side-by-side...maybe this baby will be a bit smaller than her (large) brother??
Wow! For carrying so small you sure have big babies! I didn't know that was possible lol!
I have a really long torso and carry into my body. I gained a ton of weight all over my body with DD1 and I feel like I am with this one too. I was really trying to keep my weight gain low with DD2 (only gained 22 lbs) and you can see it in all the photos, but she had weight gain problems and I think it was because I didn't have enough fat stores. I am trying to gain closer to 30 or so with this one.

so cute! 2 of my 3 girls were smaller than their average sized brother. and i wouldn't complain about a smaller sized baby!!! they were my 2 easiest deliveries!

you are really right in the middle! and if you carry posterior, i think they don't pop out as far. do you ever get the round basketball bulge? i carry upright too, way up in my ribs...
Chloe's Mama, you still look so small! Are people surprised when they find out you're pregnant? I agree that you look like you're in the middle bump wise, but none of your bumps are really big.
My son was 8.5 pounds, but right on his due date. So I'm a little scared of going two weeks past that and having a 10 lb something baby...he felt plenty big to me. ;)

I don't ever get the cute basketball belly (I am always jealous of those!). Here I am at 38 weeks with DD1 and 39 weeks with DD2. I don't mind having big babies. I like how solid they feel right away. I wouldn't mind this one being just under 10 lbs and not 11ish lbs though.
wow your belly is so tiny at 38 weeks! I guess it is all about proportions. ;) and I agree about the small vs. big babies.. both of mine were 9+ lbs and they felt more "solid" than any 6-7-8 lb baby I've held..
this is me while in labor with DS2 (who's birthday is tomorrow!!!).. im so short, nowhere for these babies to grow but OUT! one disadvantage to the big basketball baby belly-- my skin has to stretch out so much I have SOOO many stretch marks!
