Hi,

I am a runner when I am not pregnant. I am walking 2 or 3 miles around a loop at a local park. On other days, I am looking for a good workout dvd to do. When I was pg with my other two, I used Leisa Hart's Fit Mamma and Denise Austin's pregnancy videos. Anyone else have one they like? I am trying some out that I check out of the library, until I find what I like.

I got Pregnancy Fitness made by Lindsay Brin. It has 35-min exercises for the different trimesters and 124 minutes of postnatal workouts. The first tri is also for pre-pregnancy, so I got it and started it beforehand. I've only done 1st tri so far, but I'd recommend it. My plan is to alternate these with silly dancing on the Kinect and swimming.

I hope I can share some experienced momma advice and save someone from possible issues down the road.  I *wish* that I'd had the tupler book when I was pregnant with my first....I think she's got a dvd too called maternal fitness.  Doing her technique throughout pregnancy can prevent a substantial diastasis from forming, and friends who I have recommended this to also seem to have gotten fewer stretch marks as well in subsequent pregnancies as well.  I have a diastasis here (which I'm certain is not going to be helped by this pregnancy, it's gotten worse each time).  Back then the midwives advised me to 'not workout my abs' at all.  Their information was actually not technically correct, even though I did 'traditional pregnancy' workout dvds throughout pregnancy I still got the diastasis pooch, and the next time I got pregnant it was more pronounced, etc.   I'm only mentioning this as a thought, look up some reviews for it.  I wish I'd had that information when I was pregnant with my first three kids.

If you're into yoga, I used Rainbeau Mars' prenatal yoga dvd for my son's pregnancy and really liked it.  It's a gentle flow yoga, so not quite a workout.

I also like yoga and have used Shiva Rea's Prenatal Yoga video with my first pregnancy 9 years ago and this current one. She has modifications for each trimester, really gentle, lots of emphasis on breathing. In addition to yoga, I've been walking more frequently since I've stopped spin class at the gym. Looking forward to checking out the other recommended videos too. Thanks mamas!
