DarkBlue - no judegment here, I live in Herriman - home of the polygamists and more LDS ward houses than anywhere else in the valley. Fortunately the polygamists around us are all very nice, and are used to sort of minding their own business. They did want to know which scripture was dictating our polyamorous lifestyle.... I must have stared at that old many for 10 minutes before I realized what he was even asking...

Travelmumma we are definitely planning the Halloween bump pumpkin painting here ;) I like the present idea, though, too - maybe I will do that in early December just for fun, to have the photos later since it will be an almost-Christmas baby. I was reading your post and thinking man, bikinis in December! THat is one brave woman! Then I remembered you were in the southern hemisphere... I would live in bikinis all pregnancy if I could get away with it!

Sego-LOL about Herriman! Yeah we get some looks when everyone heads off to church and I am gardening in a *gasp* tank top! :) When we moved here from the East coast, we had NO IDEA what was going on when we saw there we virtually no Starbucks,lol. Now, we understand why...(but I'm still not happy about it)

Travelmumma-I looooove the painted belly bikini idea. I was thinking about being a genie for Halloween with an enormous belly....DH said if I do he is going to wear a genie lamp costume, and I tried like heck not to burst out laughing as the one he showed me was um, incredibly phallic, lol.  He is full *really inappropriate* ideas for Halloween costumes right now, lol...like pregnant nun and priest, etc...duh.gif

I had a scare last night, loads of severe cramping with strong pressure down low, dizziness, vomiting, and a really tiny amount of spotting...I am praying that it was a little nothing. praying.gif

Hope all is well with you mamas!

Holy cow! Are you going to go in and get checked out? I hope it is just stretching and growing. Please keep us posted!

@darkblue hope all is okay! Please keep us updated!

Told my bosses yesterday and it went really, really well. They were excited and very supportive and it turned into a good conversation about transitioning my role with our move in the fall. Things are so much better--I'm so glad they finally know.

11 weeks today! Maybe I'm just a dork but my "switchover" day (Tuesdays) are now one of my favorite days of the week. Getting closer to spilling the beans to everyone; just a few more days!

post #25 of 84

What is Sadbury Schooling? We homeschool, so I'm always interested in new ideas and theories on learning.

It sounds like a few of us are suddenly "showing". It was like I hit the 2nd trimester and BAM, there was this pregnant looking belly. I look about 18-20 weeks already! BUT I still fit into some of my clothes... makes the wardrobe very limited, but they are not as ill fitting as some of the 1st and 2nd trimester maternty clothes.

The 1st trimester waves are nausea are much better, though if I wait too long to eat it either makes me very nausous or so gassy it hurts and I have to lay down. That is a new experiance. I still get exhausted, but it's only in the afternoons. Before that I couldn't sit down on the sofa without being concerned I'd fall asleep while my kiddos played. With my DS being an overly rambunctious toddler it scares me that he may try to climb and jump off the table or counter. I need to find a safe climbing or jumping toy so he can safely exert his energy! He is wearing me out.

My youngest DD has been praying everyday that our new baby will be a girl. She talks about it often. If this baby is a boy we may have some issues!

darkblue - crossing my fingers that all is well!!!! I had a couple of these moments early on, they can be so scary!

madis - Sudbury Schooling is essentially child-directed learning in a democratic community. www.sudval.org is the best resource for info :)

I want one of those little counters for my signature! Where do those come from????

Thanks mamas, I'm still not feeling good, but no more spotting. I called ym friend who is a midwife and am going to go in tomorrow morning to get checked out. I appreciate your positive vibes and hope you are all well!

post #28 of 84

Yikes DarkBlue- i think resting and maybe a trip to the midwife/doctor to chat about it???

How are you feeling? Any more "episodes"??

Madis- haha what will your DD say if it is a boy? Are you finding out or having a surprise??

:) Yup southern Hemisphere for me ladies!!! As soon as we pass winter I am rocking the belly and bikinis look!! Christmas will be spent in a pool (birth or normal lol) with watermelon and popsicles!

AFM- I found a house that I adore yesterday! We are applying for it this morning! The agent basically told me it was ours so we must have looked good compared to other candidates! HUGE backyard for pets, kids and labouring! Fire places :) Its just so sweet!

Funnily enough I have been feeling better lately, but have been vomiting much more! headscratch.gif yeah... ??? Last night i rolled over in bed, sat straight up and vomited. Then the same this morning. Its just out of the blue tho. No nauseous feeling warning or anything?? Urghhhhh

Her response when I asked what she was going to do if the baby was a boy was, "We can throw it out. I already have a little brother."  She said it with such a straight face I'm almost afraid she was serious, but at the same time I'm fully aware that her recent phase is trying to trick people. Hopefully, that comment was her trying to trick people. Yes, I am very concerned. We may need family therapy if this baby is a boy.

segolily, it's more of a "DIY" counter. You can just copy and paste one that you like and put it in your profile. There are lots of little icons so you can change it to whatever you want (fish, sheep, uterus, heart, etc). Then each week, just add a star behind and delete one in front! It's fun to change it and be reminded that things are moving along. :)

DarkBlue- Thinking about you mama, hope things are going well this morning.  Sending positive thoughts, vibes, and hugs your way!

Hope all is well with you mamas!

Glad that you updated to say that you're going to get checked out but it stopped.  Hopefully everything is OK, but glad that you're getting checked out so you don't have to worry!

Like most of you who aren't there yet...can't WAIT until the second trimester!  I am only something like 10w3d here...still a ways to go (feels like a long time actually ack!).  I was checking things out down there last night and my cervix is so high and posterior it was super difficult to find it (which is normal I know).  I didn't mess with anything but I was curious as to how things had changed in the weeks since I was newly pregnant.

My second son now has the tummy bug and woke up in the middle of the night crying and I saw he'd puked all over the bed.  One bad thing about cosleeping, when one kid throws up the other kid gets it on them.  YUCK.  So, had to wake up my big boy, DH showered one, I showered the other, and I'm left today to watch over the little guy and do about three loads of laundry.  My favorite down comforter as well. DS has lots of energy still amazingly today and of course I don't (pregnancy and lack of sleep combined sigh).

Sooo I went and she found the heartbeat on the doppler (in the 150s) which is awesome. She thinks it was just some random thing. It was horrible because it took FOREVER to find the heartbeat. I was starting to get teary, DH was holding my hand, the kiddos were asking "Why don't we hear it mama?" and my friend was telling me that I might have to go in for an ultrasound....then blessedly she found our little peanut squished up against the far right side of uterus. Then he/she swam away, lol. I feel relieved that the baby sounded good. She offered to check my cervix, but I figured I would rather not have any extra poking around in there. I'm a tiny bit worried as we both thought that is really shouldn't have been that hard to get bub's heartbeat on the doppler at 11 weeks and 5 days...but I am trying not to stress out. I'm sure all is well.

I think I am going to give in and have a 20 week ultrasound, and I think this time I may find out the gender....I have just been feeling this crazing longing to know this time so I may end up honoring that.

I really appreciate all the positive thoughts mama!!

Phatchristy-I am so sorry your DS has a bug :( And super sorry that you had the puke-extravaganza in the middle of the night. that is no kind of fun, totally been there done that and yeah, ick. :( Hope you get rest and he feels better, and here's to hoping your other babes don't get sick!

Madis- FWIW my second DD has told me that we can exchange the new baby if it is a boy as she loves her brother Henry but "we don't need more boy babies with peanuts" I have had numerous conversations with her that we can't actually exchange the new baby and that if it is a boy he will be so excited to have her teach him stuff, and she is sloooooooooowly coming around. Except she wants to name him Telleka. Hmmm, apparently we have some work to do, lol.

Travelmumma- YAY about the house mama!!! I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you mama!!! xxxxxxxx

Hope all is well!

btw-has anyone heard from mamaharrison or from zebrachick? Haven't seen them in a while :( Hope they're well!

Phew! I am so glad to hear that everything is OK. hug2.gif  FWIW, they could not hear my last two babies at 12 weeks by doppler. Not sure why. I am not overweight. I remember the first OB rushing me in for an vaginal u/s to find the baby...all was well. Personally I always thought they just didn't try hard enough to find it. winky.gif

I don't know why but I really want you to have an u/s too! Probably because of my dream about you having a girl....I am just insanely curious to see what flavor you've got in there! orngbiggrin.gif

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Mamas, I have not been on here much the last 2 days so forgive me for not staying up on what's going on with everyone. Part of the reason that I have not been online is because I have been out...blessedly out and about. I still need my daily nap but my oh my I can function and clean and shop and run errands!!!! Hallelujah!!
I have been feeling so uncomfortable in my own body. This 4.5 pound weight gain threw me for a loop. I don't usually gain in the first tri. and then on top of that I had held on to a few pounds anyway after my last pregnancy (purposely). I usually lose it all after pregnancy but am just too hungry while BF so I gain back about 7-8 pounds and usually hold on to it until LO weans. Well, I was still nursing when I got pg this time so felt like I was already carrying around this extra 7-8 which I was OK with but now to add on 4 at only 13 weeks was making me feel so pudgy. greensad.gif
So, the last few days I have consumed probably 75% fresh raw fruits and veggies and cut out a lot of the crackers and cheeses that have sustained me during nausea! Wow, what a difference. I feel so much better. Now if I an going to continue to gain at that pace I least I won't feel so gross and bloated doing it!
(My new craving...big kale salad with tomato, all different bell peppers, olive oil, sea salt and LOTS of lemon squeezed on top....omgosh, I could eat it 3x a day! I can't wait until I am hungry again to eat another one!) orngbiggrin.gif
Oh, seeing the midwife tomorrow (13w4d) and praying to hear that beautiful sound that so many of you have got to hear recently. love.gif
In response to the clothing not fitting issue - I put off wearing maternity clothes for as long as absolutely possible.  Maybe it's because I've had so many kids and I just can not get remotely excited about maternity clothes!, but even with my first (and I get big) I only bought one pair of used maternity pants through my whole pregnancy.  Even at the end I wore mostly elastic waist skirts (in a bigger size) and longer tees and tank tops and loose hippy tops - almost everything from the thrift store.  My few maternity clothes were also thrifted - some cool 70s stuff.
For me, wearing maternity clothes before I absolutely need to just gets depressing.  Usually, even if your tummy or boobs won't fit into your old clothes - I know only about 1/4 of my stuff is comfortable right now at almost 10 wks - all you need is a size or two up, longer tops, looser fits, etc.  I'm not a pants person, so maybe it's easier for me - I wear dresses almost every day.  I've had to go up a size to accommodate my larger chest, but I'm still easily wearing dresses that are kind of baby doll style - gathered or loose elastic under the boob area with a loose skirt.  And until I hit the third trimester I can't imagine that they won't continue to fit.  I just need more!  Right now I'm rotating about 4 dresses and that's about it.  The other good thing about dresses - nothing tight in the tummy area.  And they accentuate your tummy, but the gathering above makes it so you don't just look like you're wearing a tent.  Here's an example - I actually have this dress and it's perfect and comfy and exactly what I'm talking about: http://www.tulle4us.com/Products/?grid=0&catid=6&sid=49&proid=1849&price_r=&colorid=&printid=&season_view=False&sale=1&size=
darkblue - so happy everything is OK!!!!
kel - your post reminded me of a sign in my first MW's office. It said something like: 1st pregnancy - you start wearing maternity clothes as soon as you can get your hands on some; 2nd pregnancy - your wait as long as possible for wearing maternity clothes. 3rd pregnanct - your maternity clothes ARE your regular clothes.... Silly, but makes me laugh anyway :)
hehehe that makes me definitely a first time Mumma! Tho I do feel much more comfortable in them now anyway! No wiggling and adjusting.
Tropicana- SO happy for you that you are out and about and able to do things!!!! I had one day like that this week, then crashed and have been in bed since! (Hello vomit bucket)
DarkBlue- Remember that even when bub is huge sometime its hard to find a heartbeat. My midwife will not try and fine one until 13 weeks with the Doppler....
I hope you are ok! Just keep talking to your bean!! xxxxxx
AFM- WE GOT THE HOUSE!!!!! yyyaaaaaayyy! 3 big bedrooms plus study! a real fire in the lounge room! Heaters in every room (important where we live as it gets chilly!!!!)! Huge backyard! And gorgeous wooden floors throughout! We move in 13 days! So if I can find the energy today I am going to start packing!!! Im so so excited!
Is anyone else getting REALLY sore back and hips and thighs? My midwife suggested going to a chiropractor, but I haven't been able to find one yet, and man oh man it hurts!! I can feel little bean nestled into the back of my pelvis! Come forward little bean, your hurting Mumma!
YES!! I have been dealing with this all evening! I am actually laying on the couch right now and DH has bedtime duty for all 3 kids (on a side note...this is only the 2nd time in DS life that his daddy has put him to bed...he is 33 months and tonight he said "Just milk in the bottle mommy, no nursies"...wow, I am 1/2 ecstatic and 1/2 heart-broken). mecry.gif
I am kind of relieved to hear you are dealing with the back pain too. I have never had this before and it made me and DH both a little nervous (hopefully after I hear a HB tomorrow I won't get so nervous about stuff like this). Chiropractic is a great suggestion. I thought maybe it was constipation. redface.gif
