Darkblue- So glad to hear all is well, I was wondering if maybe you got super dehydrated? I know you've had a lot of vomiting. I don't think I've been drinking enough water this time because I keep feeling like I'm getting a UTI.
Travelmumma-Congrats! What a great way to start the second trimester
Sorry you two have sore back, hips and thighs! Does not sound fun.
Has anyone gotten their exercise groove back? I was running before conceiving, and my DH and I were training for a half marathon (actually I was training, he was pretending
). So we've started running again and he can now outrun me. Hmph. Plus I'm super sore in my ankles, which is new. My midwife thought maybe it was due to loose ligaments. We are still planning on doing the half marathon, but running/walking. Now I see why a lot women give up running while pregnant. It's just not as fun if you can't push yourself to the limit. The midwife also gave me a lecture on overdoing in and depriving the baby of oxygen. I have to find a way to go running with my DH without pouting the whole way home. I have been to Jazzercise, which has been absolutely wonderful. My instructor did it her whole pregnancy and is working with me on modifications. The whole reason I bring this up is because I too have gained more weight in the first trimester than in the past. Tropicana, I'm totally in the feeling pudgy zone too. We're currently weaning, so I'm not sure if BF'ing has anything to do with it. I was just telling my DH tonight that as soon as we got a positive test my butt heard the news and got bigger. I don't want to change much about my diet (eating waaayyy less sugar than I did with the last two), so I thought activity would be the way to go. This is also the first time I've been pregnant in the summer, wonder if that has something to do with it.
Thanks for the good ideas regarding maternity (or non-maternity clothes)! I'm feeling re-inspired.
Phatchristy-hope everyones better at your house. The second trimester is just around the corner...you can do it!

QQ- When did you first feel bub in first pregnancy?
This is my first, and I swear I have felt a few little bumps right down low on my right.... my imagination?? I am 12 weeks in 10 hours lol
and- How much sleep are you getting and how energised are you feeling???
(I have been getting about 8 hours of VERY broken sleep, waking up exhausted and napping around 2pm or 3pm... is this normal lol)
I felt my dd (my first) at 13 weeks.

I think I just might be starting to feel better! This is amazing to me, given I'm not even 12wks yet, and was so sick last time up until 34wks. I do start to feel yucky if I get hungry though.
I second (third? fourth?) chiropractic care. I hadn't seen one in well over a decade, but went last week and I've felt so much better in general since. I tried to go yesterday too but didn't make it, it's a drop-in arrangement at a place run by my birthworker, and it's a rush to get there from DS2's circus class. I'll go again in a couple of weeks. I really want to go regularly, and I want to start yoga there soon too. I hate regular yoga but really liked pg yoga last time.
I'm excited to be sleeping more like a normal person in that I don't need a nap now. I am trying to make sure I get as much sleep as I need.
Travelmama, I'm guessing that is normal, for you, right now. Remember you're still vomiting so that'll drain your energy, especially if your sleep is broken as well. Take those naps while you can!
I can't remember when I first felt DS2, maybe 17ish weeks? I think DP was the same with DS1. I do think I can feel what might be BH sometimes, esp after sex.
I've decided to try harder to get a morning walk in each day. It seems more likely to happen if I go early while the kids are still asleep.
Northern hemisphere people, is it getting warm there? It's SO COLD here!

Glad to hear you are getting better! It would be horrible to be that sick for that long again!

So BH after sex fairly normal??? I think thats what has been happening lately... weird and sometimes painful in bizarre areas!

Ok ladies so what's the deal with chiropractic? I've never had it done but even before these posts about it, I had a sense that I should check it out with this pregnancy. I'm feeling some weird aches in my hips and lower back already. I'm concerned about the cost. In my last pregnancy I had accupuncture weekly and it was faaaabulous, seriously those of you still struggling with nausea it was amazing. But we're working with less disposable income this time around and I can't afford weekly bodywork sessions. How often do you go to the chiropractor?
And sleep, last night I slept 9hrs (minus 50 million pee breaks) on top of taking a 3hr nap yesterday. I think you just need what you need.

The chiropractor was FABULOUS last time! It makes those hip pains and such just temporary later on in the pregnancy instead of a chronic painful condition. We go twice a month. If you are covered by insurance, it'll usually just cover that amount of adjustments, but you still have a copay. Should you find a cash-only practice, you might be able to go for less than the regular copay amount. HTH!
I recognized mine with my first at about 14 weeks, so if you're aware it's possible you are feeling baby! How exciting!!
10 weeks here and my exercise groove is just to the point where I *might* do *prenatal* exercises. I've felt horribly tired this time around. Now that I can get through the day without a nap, the exercise doesn't seem quite as daunting! I've been sleeping about 10 hours at night (8.5/9 is my usual).

So far only two kids have come down with it, however last night I woke up and had some horrible intestinal pain then had the runs....kind of wonder if it's what they have though I don't have the throwing up part! Thankfully seems like a 12-24 hour bug at the most! Phew!
I'm a completely lazy bum today LOL....I woke up overnight to find DS sleeping on my legs! Now I'm having this insane pain in the knees, I think it was from his extra weight on top of me I think he locked the joints up. So I have been trying to spend most of the time on the couch as it's so painful and I can't really take anything!
Yes, cannot wait until the second trimester! 10w4d here...still feels a ways off! I'll bet though, if I see my family they might figure it out. DH's family is pretty clueless but mine are pretty observant! And, if I wind up seeing them a couple of weekends from now and they want me to go swimming I think they're going to know!

Awesome news on the house travelmama! Have fun nesting:)
Darkblue so glad it was nothing! I would have been so scared to. Yay for heartbeat.
I try to get on earlier before this thread explodes but no luck:) So sorry if I miss anyone's big news. I can't believe how many are in the second trimester. It feels like it's never going to get here for me LOL.
Had another ultrasound on Monday which was a relief. I'd been feeling anxious for about a week. My seven year old came with me and was so excited:) Heartbeat in the 150s, and he was all squished by my poor overfull bladder. The Dr. had me go to the bathroom and when I came back, Skippy was on his/her head LOL. But there is a ton of confusion on my due date (I'm pretty sure it's the 27th) but basically they couldn't do the testing because it was too early. So back tomorrow for the blood test and the nuchual count:P Then I have a midwife appointment next week. Luckily we live right next door to the hospital. In fact, we saw the midwife I meet the other day walking to her car. LOL.
Already in maternity clothes. I'm big anyway and needed new summer clothes due to weight gain so I just got maternity clothes. Most of them are big but oh well. I'll wear summer clothes until October here, and then I have a bunch fo clothes from my last pregnancy. I am starting to show a bit and we're starting to get the "looks." You know when I'm in the store with all four and I'm pregnant :P
Travelmama: I didn't feel my first until like really late, 20 weeks I think. With my last it was around 15. This time I swear I felt some movement on Monday but nothing since so I wonder if it's gas LOL. But I'm a big woman so it maybe that it just takes me longer.

nosreves and greentea congrats on making it to the second trimester and seeing the heartbeat respectively! I'm sure it feels great! Nosreves I hope your families will be sensitive, respectful and hopefully even a bit excited!
I've had a miserable day and tonight still feel absolutely horrible. I apparently don't remember how long exactly the m/s lasts. Today has been so bad though and nothing I do seems to relieve it. Sigh. Just venting because there's nobody else I can talk to right now and I know most of you ladies will understand! LOL

I was reading your signature- you have been wanting and working for that bubba for such a long time that he or she deserves as much love and understanding as anyone!!!!! I hope your ultrasound goes well :) little bean will be wiggling and giggling away now!!
Phatchristy- urgh i know what you mean. I hit 12 weeks today, and I am literally writing this as I sit by the bucket. Sometimes i think how great it would be if we all lived near each other, than I think how it might just make me more nauseous hahaha!
Ginger- yay!!! What did he/she look like?? was Skippy moving????? So exciting!!!!!!
AFM- I hit 12 weeks today!!!!! Lol i thought it would feel different... but i just feel so sick haha! I found a great doctor today who will support my home birth! Very excited about this!
we move in 12 days and I CAN NOT WAIT to have a bath and light the fire in the lounge room! It is the only thought saving me from dying of morning sickness right now.
Oh and I just can't wait to set up the cot and put the rocking chair into Albi's room! Make a sweet little nursery for him/her!!!

Congratulations on reaching 12 weeks. I wouldn't doubt we could make eachother sick *if* we were around eachother LOL! After I got done posting the other night I got sick (glad I had not taken the prenatals yet). Then I felt strangely better temporarily at least! Then I took two prenatals (I have those three a day pills and couldn't take the lunch one due the the nausea) and slept. Woke up this morning and got a phone call from DH and I threw up while I was on the phone, I basically couldn't talk and I tried to hang up as soon as possible and not be rude. At least I think he might sympathize more. I realized I was leaking (sigh) so sat on the toilet and puked into the tub which is next to it. Nothing in the stomach, just acid so it worked this time. I wound up walking the kids to the bus stop, my DS wanted me to drive them but it wasn't raining and I didn't want to risk having to clean up anything in the car!
Lovely morning. Even worse, I'm sitting here eating half a toaster pastry as it seems to be the only thing in the house I can stomach. Seriously gross as I don't eat that stuff. Not that I know it's going to help though because I ate bread last night to try to help and that didn't work either and it usually does. I just don't get *why* this is getting worse. Sigh.

greentea-So happy you got an ultrasound and some peace of mind mama!
phatchristy-Sorry you are so sick mama!!! Sending huge hugs and get well soon vibes your way!
travelmumma-We made it to 12 weeks mama!!! ![]()

and CONGRATS on your gorgeous sounding house!!! How exciting! I wish that 12 weeks had been the magical time you started feeling better :( but we'll get there soon mama!!
esp-Mama, I ran before we conceived, but um me and exercise? Well, we kind of broke up, lol. I will send you all kinds of athletic vibes though mama ![]()
afm-It has been blessedly cool here the past couple of days (after a crazy windstorm) so we have been having some yummy cold weather foods like chickpea and potato curry, roasted butternut, spicy chai, etc...I will be so sad when the heat returns :( I feel a lot better. Esp, I think you're right and I did get way too dehydrated what with getting so sick and it caused me to have the crazy painful cramps etc...I am usually really good about drinking fluids, so it was a total wake up call. I feel a little blue today, I think I am a bit homesick for the east coast, I miss really good pumpernickel bagels that I didn't have to make myself, lol...ahh well if that is my greatest complaint, then my life is pretty awesome.
btw, for anyone of you mamas who like Totsy, they are having an AWESOME sale of cute maternity/nursing lingerie (I mean who doesn't love aquamarine lace?)
I hope all of you awesome ladies are doing well! I have to say, this is my 4th DDC on MDC and I feel like we are all waaay closer than any other DDC I've been in!
You mamas are soooo amazing!

So I've gotten to 12 weeks, too. And I think I might actually be feeling relatively decent today if I didn't have a migraine. Grrrr.
All along I've felt like, 'if only I could go out to eat, then I'd have lots of choices and eating would be more fun.' I felt like that all last pregnancy, too. But . . . eating out is really not in our budget. At all. So last night I got taken out to dinner by the committee I work with at my job, to a lovely Asian sushi & vegetarian restaurant (meat available, too, so LOTS of choices). And I sat there and looked at the menu and went 'aaaccckk! I can't decide! It's too much!'
Also I told them about the pg earlier this week and about half of them were like, "well, that's not a surprise!" Which is nice in a way because it means I do actually look pregnant to other people, not just fat, which is how I feel like I look. And I'm not a person who worries about feeling fat very much.
You know what I could use? Suggestions on how to 'fill my cup'. I am working, still moving/unpacking/trying to make living space work, caring for 3 kids, having not much time for my partner or he for me, and growing a new human in my uterus. Also we've had an awfully hard 2 years prior to now. I feel seriously depleted. What do you do to fill your cup? Give me ideas!

Mamabeakley - I feel the same way. This pregnancy hasn't been tiring me out too much, but I am just mentally and physically exhausted after the past few years. I started a new business last summer (which is still struggling), homeschool my four kids, separated from my husband two summers ago, and my 12-yr-old has been diagnosed with anorexia. On top of all of that, being pregnant is wonderful, but just amplifies everything in so many ways. I drink tea and listen to music and eat good food and spend good relaxing time with my kids and beau, but I guess I just need a tropical vacation or something! Aside from a little daily exercise and eating right - I would also love to hear suggestions for herbs, flower essences, great books to read - anything for calming and repleting an exhausted human being.
