Ovulation without EWCM?

My background: I have PCOS. Conceived my two kids on metformin plus clomid. This time around, I'm trying to conceive our third using metformin and diet alone without using an RE. I had a miscarriage at 6 weeks on April 10.

I had my first period after the miscarriage a few weeks ago- it was a 40 day cycle, which is really short for me; I usually have a period maybe every 60 days. It was a strange cycle though; I wasn't temping, but was just watching CM to check for ovulation. Normally I get a ton of EWCM at ovulation. That cycle I got a few days of thick "mucilage" CM, but never got the EW. One day my boobs starting hurting, and I was like huh, and then a few days later my period arrived. So this cycle I started temping. I had a temperature rise at 14 days, and ovulation pain the next day. So I seem to have ovulated right at 14 days, which is really exciting for me as a PCOSer. But once again, no EWCM! I had no CM to speak of, actually. What gives? Has anyone experienced this? I've heard of medications, including clomid, drying up your CM but I've not taking anything except 1000mg/day of met.

Allergy medicine/decongestants can also dry up CM.  Did you happen to take any medications like that?  Also being dehydrated can reduce the CM.

I haven't taken any allergy meds, but it was very hot around that time so it's possible I got dehydrated.

The rest of my chart has been weird anyway. I had a temp spike around what I think was ovulation but it went back down to below 97 after that. I think it was a poor quality ovulation.

Sigh.
