Polio and dtap vaccines

Hi everyone, am new to this site and need help with selecting vaccines and especially the brands of vaccines that are safest. I have delayed vaccines (dd is 2 1/2), and I would prefer not to ever do vaccines but having moved to the middle east, as well as frequently traveling, i have with much hesitation decided to do polio and dtap.

Does anyone have any advise on which are the safest brands for these two vaccines?

You will undoubtedly get some super anti vax replies saying no vaccines are safe and some super pro vaccine replies saying all are safe.

That said, what most middle ground researchers of us out there feel is Daptacel is the safest DTaP (safe as in no thimerasol and less aluminum than other brand, as well as half the pertussis component which is usually the most reactive part.). For polio it is definitely the IPV (injected) NOT the OPV (oral) which is a live virus that actually can cause polio in some cases.

If I travelled a lot like you these would be my choices as well. Best to you!

Thanks for the info...will look if they have daptacel here. What brand of polio shot would you recommend as I am not finding much info on the different brands, I heard poliorex is one of the safer ones, but i cannot seem to find it here, any others you would suggest?

I have to say since polio vaccination is not on my radar for my own family, I don't know the current brands out there.  I'd recommend downloading the package inserts for each choice you have then looking at the "inactive ingredients" and making a comparison list.  That's what I did for the DTaP options when I was thinking about doing it.
