I went to DS's kindergarten "show" today. I'm 36w3d and people kept commenting on how it looks like I've got a lot more time. I guess I stay pretty compact. I had no weight gain at my last appt, which did not happen at the end of my last 2 pregnancies. I just hope the baby is still growing! Maybe it's burning too many calories since I feel a lot of movement. Ha ha.

I always look small for how far along I am and compared to others. I "think" I have a long body and I hid babies well in there cause they aren't small when they come out!

I don't get very many you're ready to pop or near the end comments either.  I'm thinking mine if because my huge breasts hide half my belly and I get kind of fat all over and wider and hippier and just big.  I still look pregnant, but not as pregnant as I would look without a bunch of fat surrounding me.  My babies are decent-sized too 7lb10oz and 8lb8oz.  I'm measuring 35 weeks at 38 weeks and have been a few cm behind this whole pregnancy.

I've had some weird, erm, "widening" feelings in my vaginal area for the last week or so (at 34 weeks). Since this is my first pregnancy, could this be the effacement process already beginning? Is it too early for that, or is my body just being extremely efficient?

When I was checked I was 3 cm dilated and 90% effaced already so it is very possible. But I would try to take it easy to maybe slow things down a bit. I know you can ask to be checked but almost everything can be normal (not dilated or effaced, or starting to dilate & efface)

I think it could be.   When I first read what you wrote though, I thought you meant what I've been noticing since yesterday when I wipe.  My actual vaginal opening feels wider.  Like my hand kind of sinks in when I go to wipe.  I'm 38 weeks though and it's my 3rd baby, so I'm thinking things are just prepping for delivery!

It seems like it's about time for some birth announcements!  Who is ready?  lol

I wanted to wait two more weeks because Venus and Saturn are both retrograde right now.  And I have been expecting a baby with Cancer as his Sun sign.  But I have recently realized that almost all of the super smart people I know are Gemini, so I'm okay with mine coming in June if he wants to!  My OB thinks I could go anytime now, but OBs always say that after they check me- they thought both my boys would come early based on my progress, but both were induced thanks to high bp, weeks after the docs were expecting they would have already been born.  I'm thinking I'll be holding this guy for sure 3 weeks from now and quite possibly sooner. <3

Karrey - I have those "widening" feelings, too.  I was telling my mom the other day how everything just feels...  Loose.  LOL  She laughed and said she felt that way with me towards the very end.  It's kind of a weird feeling, I can't seem to get used to it!

Ms Shell - that is super exciting!!!  :)  I am hoping to keep baby in there for at least 5 more days...  I am a Cancer myself, so I am a little partial to them.  I like Geminis in general, too, though.  Most of my friends are other water signs like Pisces, but those are out, lol.  So I guess we will see how it all happens.  I can't wait to hear your announcement!

I feel like I must be really sensitive to the hormone Relaxin or something, because everything on me just feels like it's falling down now!  My lower stomach is so far out, it really looks like I'm carrying a globe, and at night, my hips on whichever side I am sleeping go "in" so far as the night progresses that I wake up with pretty intense hip pain.  Ouchie!  Ah, well.  I am trying to savor these last few weeks before baby is born...  I am so excited to meet him / her, but then my days of doing whatever I feel like are definitely over for a while.  It will definitely be an adjustment.  ;)

Im hoping to hold off until the 20th for a cancer too lol! DS1 is a Cancer and he is so calm and sweet and I read that Cancer & Scorpio have the best relationships (Im Scorpio) and he truly is such a mamas boy and so loving with me, even if he isn't super loving with anybody else.

I had been hoping to hold off until July 1st because of insurance issues, but I just discovered last night that my insurance has already switched to Tricare Standard, which means that a home birth is covered and so is the baby!  Whew!  I can relax, and this little girl can come on out whenever she wants.  And I can start walking more and chugging the RRL tea!

How many of you expect to have your baby before your EDD?  I am finding this to be a lot more common thought, than I thought it was.  I am expecting to go after, my first was 40w1d and my second was 40w5d.  I never did anything to encourage labor to start.

DH & I are both gemini and I think that is enough for this house! I would like a July baby since our birthdays are both the end of May & June feels so hectic. I did not expect to have baby super early but my acupuncturist thinks it is coming sooner than later. EDD is 7/9 by sonogramm but 7/5 by LMP. DS was my only spontaneous labor and he was 39w4d by LMP & 38w3d by charting. I think if baby stays breech, I will deliver as scheduled on 7/6. If he/she turns...no idea. I feel like my body is making room to birth a baby, just need baby to cooperate!

Is anyone else feeling very very tired? By the time 2 or 3 rolls around I need a nap! It is tricky with 5 other kids who are homeschooled so really not alot of napping for me ;) I begged my 18 month old to nap today but it wasn't happening so I drank a VERY large cup of tea and then 15 minutes later he fell asleep but I was then too awake after the tea! Was wishing  I could have more afternoon naps! I am going to sleep by 9:30 and waking up at 6am with ALOT of night wakings to pee etc..Also finding it hard to breath at night so am using quite the stack of pillows! Thanks for listening to me complain! All in all everything is going amazing just starting to slow down these days I guess!

I think nearly every pregnant woman I've known has spent the last month of her pregnancy convincing herself that it's going to happen sooner. I think it's kind of a coping mechanism for dealing with the discomfort of the last month, a readiness to meet the little one, and comments from people about how you "aren't going to make it till then!"

I've caught myself doing it a lot recently, too

I expect to have mine 3 weeks early :) Since all 5 of mine have been three weeks early ( 36 5, 36 6, 36 6, 37, 37) I figure I have a good control group study ;)

I fully expect to go into labor late, but I'm afraid my blood pressure will go up and I won't make it that long, so I would rather go early. Now that I'm 36+4, I feel less bad about thinking that way.

I expect to make it till July at least and feel I may go over. Though I think I like to tell myself I'm going to go later so I won't get bummed.

My first 2 were 40 wks 1 day, so we shall see.

We are mostly ready for baby, aside from some washing of diapers and other baby stuff and an appointment to take my kids to the dentist next week. There is really nothing else planned so baby can come when ready, no pressure to come early or stay late.

I am 34 +2 and getting puffy! My shoes barely fit. My toes feel like little sausages about to pop out of their casings!

Hmmm, I get that.  Although I don't know that I say it out loud.  I spend the majority of my time convincing myself I will be at least a week past.  I don't want to get my hopes up!  If I had before my EDD babies in the past, I wouldn't be able to convince myself otherwise though.
