Is anyone else making their own wipes?

What materials do you prefer? And where do you buy your fabric? I just got some organic cotton fleece from Etsy, but it is pretty spendy! I'd love to know more from experienced crafty moms!

I made mine. I had tons of flannel receiving blankets that turned out to be too small to use for much so I cut them into square and used a machine to sew along the edges (didn't have access to a surger). They've held up really well! I say just buy something super cheap or look for old flannel sheets you can cut up. Or I heard old t-shirts work well too.

I am a fan of flannel with the edges surged. I have some still from DS2 but need to make more. Haven't done it yet though... Also, I really need to re-surge the ones I have.

Thanks, ladies! There is a Goodwill close by that has bins and bins of clothes and fabrics. I think I'll go there and look for flannel!

Flannel - especially all those receiving blankets work really well. Also, if you have an IKEA nearby, they have packs of 10 or 12 for under $5! Hands down the best price and saves the time of making your own.

I love using the rough dollar store type baby washcloths. They hold together really well and you don't have to make anything lol. I got a bunch from babys r us and shower gifts but they sell the same things at dollar stores for less. I found that the flannel ones (I purchased a few on sale) are too slippery to really get the poop off and I need to use more.

Thanks for the ikea and dollar store tips - now I know where I'll be buying receiving blankets and wash cloths for my home birth kit! :-) I need 8 receiving blankets. Now is the ONLY time I've been wishing I didn't make them all into wipes. LOL.
