Lady Catherine, the beach sounds awesome!  I'm a bit jealous, but the weather in Chicago for the next week looks great!  Took DS to a sprinkler park with friends this morning and enjoyed the sun. :)

I'm still feeling pretty good.  A little tired and sore in random places.  Anyone else have slight hip pain?  Ugh.  I am thrilled about this pregnancy, but don't feel that attached or pregnant yet.  I am so excited to see that little heartbeat in a few weeks!  My husband just started a new busy job last week, which is great, but I'm kinda of sad that I don't think he will get to see any of the ultrasounds that I have.  I would love to share those moments with him!

What's going on?

It's the end of the school year and our school is making some BIG changes for next year which has everyone stressed and excited. My baby boys are turning into little boys and even one big boy right before my eyes! I am two semesters away from my Master's degree, which I started a year before the twins were born!

When is your first appointment, if you are seeing a doctor or midwife?

I haven't even called yet. Actually going to POAS again tomorrow because I still can't quite believe it. I had the copper IUD in and we think it found it's way out to make room for this baby. That would make me 3 for 3 pregnancies on birth control!! I would love to see a midwife again but I'm not sure if she will see me if I plan for a VBAC which in FL will have to be a HBAC which might make my mom pass out. Not sure if I'm telling anyone my birthing plans!! I LOVED my OB for the twins but really want a natural birth again.

What are you scared or anxious about?

Having 4 children! What my husband will do .. he does not want to be a SAHD after they turn 1. He is actually about to embark upon a career changing endeavor and I don't want this to sway him away from his dreams. I'm nervous this baby won't stick around, that my CS from the twins makes my womb inhospitable. I started experiencing a burning feeling around my uterine scar today which freaked me out. What will our family say? How can we afford it? What if it's another boy?!? So many things bouncing around in my head....

What are you most excited about?

I loved being pregnant, even with the twins. I love babies. I love nesting. I'm really thinking this could be a little girl.

Have you bought anything yet? (dont be shy...)

I still have a lot of our stuff. I saved it because I just felt we weren't done, guess I was right! I'm always terrified to buy something. I really think I won't make it until September when we can find out the gender!!

What is one aspect of your health that you are trying to change for the better during this pregnancy?

I started really focusing on making better food choices and exercising last year. I hope to continue that this time around. I don't want to use the excuses I used that last two times to sit around and eat. Preggos can be at the gym and don't have to eat fast food and candy!

What's your favorite color?

purple or blue

Any hobbies that keep you busy?

Grad School. Kids. I am addicted to Pinterest and love to make things but never have the time!!

What is one aspect of your health that you are trying to change for the better during this pregnancy?

I started eating better and walking about 10 months ago (and consequently lost 30 lbs!), and I really hope to keep that up!! I had a lot of hip/joint pain and swelling all over with DS2, and I am hoping for a more comfortable pregnancy. Also, I have been eating good quality dairy, and making milk kefir daily, so I am hoping this helps with Baby3's digestive system. Both of my boys could NOT tolerate dairy, among other things, and were very colicy/refluxy for the first YEAR of their lives.

What's your favorite color?

purple (so how fitting to have a FEBRUARY baby with AMETHYST for the birthstone!!!) and turquoise/teal

Any hobbies that keep you busy?

I love to draw/paint... I have been doing little drawings that I "paint" with watercolor/watercolor pencil... Also, we just moved into our house last September, and we have a LOT of house projects going on. LOTS of rooms need painted before the baby comes!!! I am really looking forward to decorating and painting our bedroom, we have never had a "pretty" master bedroom before!! and since we are planning a homebirth, I think it will be extra important to have a pretty room!!!

I have great news and I'm really excited to tell someone, but since we're still not telling I'm about to BURST at the seams!!

My HCG levels went from 484 on Wednesday to 1236 today! When I miscarried at 7 weeks I was only 691, so I'm feeling fabulous about this!

What's going on?

Our whole household is sick, as well as DH's business partner.  It seems like we're dealing with about 3 different viruses right now.  DH and I had sore throats for a few days that went away with no other symptoms, DS2 had a quick stomach bug (no fever) and now has a cold and then had more diarrhea and vomiting this morning (like 5 days since he last has stomach issues), DS1 and I now both have the cold that DS2 has and DH's business partner had a bad stomach bug with fever and everything.

So I pretty much just want to sleep for a few days and wake up when everyone is better and sleeping through the night again.

When is your first appointment, if you are seeing a doctor or midwife?

I don't have an appointment yet.  I'm planning to see my midwife again, but can't afford to do a bunch of prenatal appointments (at $60 each) so I'll call her and communicate that with her.  I'll do some of my own prenatal (urine and blood pressure testing, weight etc) so I'll have that info for her when I do see her.

What are you scared or anxious about?

Nothing really that relates to the pregnancy.  But business has been pretty slow recently.  We own our own business so if things are slow, we just don't have much money.  Things always seem to work out, though, so I'm not *really* anxious about it.

I also need to get my paperwork filled out to apply for the state insurance.  It's much trickier this time around as it's the first time I'm filling this form out since we became home owners and have IRAs.  Just gotta get all that paperwork done and turned in, just in case I need a hospital transfer.

What are you most excited about?

Being pregnant again.  Wearing a baby again.  Doing cloth diapers again.  Tiny little feet.  Nursing.

Have you bought anything yet? (dont be shy...)

I bought a couple cloth diapers to add to my stash.  I did okay with the amount I already have, but I know it'll be better with the few more I bought.  My excuse is that I was buying a bunch for a friend who is just getting started, so I just got a couple for myself while I was at it.  :)

I got rid of all my baby clothes and stuff except for my diapers and mei tai, but I think I'll be set with hand me downs from friends.

What is one aspect of your health that you are trying to change for the better during this pregnancy?

Once we all get well again I'd like to be walking around the block every day with my boys.  I've also been doing some leg exercises and stretches and hope that will help with sciatica.

I eat pretty well but could do better (I'd like to eliminate flour but I *really* don't want to).  I have ulcerative colitis (an inflammatory bowel disease) but the symptoms were not bad during my last pregnancy so I'm hoping things will be nice and steady this time as well.  I modified my diet by keeping a food journal after I got sick (during my first pregnancy) and I am fairly strict about it, with an occasional risk with some kind of snack food.  I never eat out.  I am also on one medication that I plan to be off of pretty soon.  I've already cut down to 1/4 of the dose I was on, so I should be off it completely pretty soon.

We've also been juicing a lot which makes me feel great but every time we run out of greens it can take us a few days to get more.

What's your favorite color?

Green.  Least favorite is teal.

Any hobbies that keep you busy?

Kids keep me busy, we do homeschool and are home most of the week.  Usually in town (45 minutes away) 2 days a week to get together with friends.

If I can make the time, and if I'm in the mood, I love sewing.  I made a tiny little diaper and a fleece cover the other day.  And I've started the little pile of cloth wipes.

I love reading but don't usually have the time to sit down for very long any more.  So I've been listening to audiobooks while I'm making dinner or putting my youngest to bed.  Once I have a new nursling I'll be able to do more reading, I just keep the kindle right by my comfy chair.  :)

I just got the pregnancy confirmed by my midwife(not that I had any doubts that I was...) so now it's official: I'M PREGNANT joy.gif

Each hurdle adds that much more excitement!

I can't wait for my first ultrasound now. Once I see that little heartbeat, at least 50% of my anxiety is going to wash away :)

Hey, does anyone know when you can tell that a pregnancy isn't an ectopic, molar pregnancy or a blighted ovum ? Is it 12 weeks? I know I will be able to breathe again when I hear the heartbeat for the first time (6/27....so far away!)

I agree! I'm getting an u/s at 8 weeks, and then starting the appointments at 10 weeks. I'm stoked!

How's everyone doing?  Today was two weeks away from my first midwife appointment.  Can't wait!  I'm still feeling pretty good, and I'm trying to just enjoy it and be grateful.  Crazy thing is, Catie posted that link to the "bean cure" for morning sickness, and I've been having some beans when I feel a bit icky (beginning yesterday), and it really seemed to work immediately!  I hope that keeps up.  My hopes are that everything is fine with this pregnancy, and that no more sickness kicks in...that I get lucky this time around with super mild symptoms.  One can dream, right? wink1.gif

I'm still feeling fairly decent too... only very mild nausea and some tiredness, but nowhere near as bad as I usually feel by this point in pregnancy! I will be 6 weeks tomorrow!!!! Maybe losing 30 lbs, drinking milk kefir consistently, and having beans everydays is helping!?

I weighed myself this morning and I am up 2 lbs!! not really excited about that :/ I am actually surprised, especially after how much MOVING I did yesterday.... oh well, I guess I am just used to losing weight in the first trimester, not gaining! lol :P

I have my first ultrasound scheduled for June 27, when I will be 7 weeks and 6 days.

Feeling kind of stressed about this coming week though, because Sunday will be the point where I was in my last (first ever) pregnancy when I started spotting, then Wednesday will be the point where I officially miscarried. I'm sure I'll be a wreck for the couple hours each day that I don't feel sick or dizzy.

Anyone have any ideas for distraction?

I've told a few people; the woman who owns the attachment parenting store here, a couple of mom's at playgroup, and my masseuse. That's it really though. I'm 5 1/2 weeks, and I cant believe Ive already told anyone.

  • Our first appointment is July 13th. i kind of just picked a provider out of the book, but I'm hoping for an HBAC/VBAC this time. We're in a new city, so I'm going to have to do a little more research before picking my for-real provider!
  • I'm a little anxious about genetic issues. I'm only 33, but I have a biology background. It's kind of incredible how many things have to go right for a baby to be born healthy! It's kind of incredible we all exist at all!
  • I am most excited about DD having a younger sibling. She's OBSESSED with babies. It think it will be a lot of fun seeing her grow into an awesome big sister. I'm also excited that with this birth (fingers crossed) our family will be complete. I'm kind of tired of being so poor, what with the SAHM thing. I'm excited that there's a light at the end of the tunnel where we go back to two incomes someday!
  • I bought some cloth diaper patterns and some maternity clothes at garage sales. Probably won't be buying much...see aforementioned poverty.  ;)

What's going on?

Apparently I am going to work on plans to enjoy the last child-free months of my life! A couple of shows planned for the next few weeks (the life and times, russian circles) and going to try to go to as many as possible in the next 8 months! Being pregnant is really going to interfere with my usual schedule of frequenting the local breweries a few times a week, so I'll certainly have some extra $$

When is your first appointment, if you are seeing a doctor or midwife?

The day after by +hCG (6/7), I had a coworker give me a TV u/s that put me at 5w2d. I really want to consider all angles of my decision so I haven't scheduled a prenatal visit yet. I have been a huge supporter of midwife assisted and/or homebirth for as long as I can remember, but I can't decide if I want to go with the local nurse midwife practice or do a homebirth instead...either way, I figure I have some time before I need to run to an appointment. Plus, I'm surrounded by NPs and CNMs all day at work anyway.

What are you scared or anxious about?
I am anxious about dealing with other people's joy/enthusiasm. I'm not upset that I'm pregnant, but I'm certainly not overjoyed either. I absolutely hate having to fake an emotional response for people so that they feel good, and I feel even more reluctant to do that if the fakery is essentially about me and my husband.

What are you most excited about?

Creating something that is both mine and my husband's.

Have you bought anything yet?

No not really. I'm a total overthinker though so I have been researching the hell out of things I probably won't even buy.  I figure it is better to start early so I can find it used in good condition and at a great price...

What is one aspect of your health that you are trying to change for the better during this pregnancy?

I am going to do everything I can to keep working on my hip flexibility and ROM.

I think that needing to eat more consistently through the day will also really give me a chance to do a better job of stabilizing my blood sugar levels instead of waiting too too too long before eating.

I'm going to work on letting myself be more emotional in general since I can "blame" the pregnancy. I'm really good at dealing with others' emotions, but not great at having/showing my own to anyone but my man.

What's your favorite color?

I like most colors if they are at once saturated and muted. Never pastel.

Any hobbies that keep you busy?

Knitting, cooking, gardening, listening to music, listening to my single friends complain about their love lives.

I'm feeling soooooo much more sickness today - 5 wks 1 day ..  I was starting to really get worried yesterday cause i hadn't been that sick, but today was way worse..   beans sound soooo gross to me!! but eating nuts and seeds seems to be helpful.

I had my first midwife appt last thursday - very uneventful,  I'm really looking forward to the 2nd appt which is on July 7th ..  I'm also trying to schedule an early ultrasound in a couple weeks but haven't been able to work anything out yet..  I may just wait it out but if i don't hear a heartbeat at my midwife appt on the 7th, i know i'll be in a complete panic (despite the fact that i'll only be just shy of 9 weeks and i know it could just be too early) .. I'm just a worrier since my m/c in 2007  - Part of my worrying is related to the fact that i really want to wait until i hear or see a HB to tell people and i know i won't be able to wait much past that, if i even make it that long.. I'm already having to wear baggy clothes and try to hide my belly..

Hi! I just got a BFP today!!! And since I don't want to tell many people yet, had to join this group immediately!

We are super excited super busy and trying not to talk about it in front of out other children.

What's going on?

Not much yet. Less than 4 weeks pregnant. Don't feel much yet. But now I feel like I feel it because I "know", ya know?

Midwife?

I love her and had her at my last home birth. This will hopefully be HB#3 for us. Probably won't have an appt until 12 weeks or so unless something seems wrong. But I will call her soon.

Scared?

Very nervous about having a miscarriage. This is my 6th pregnancy, I lost #2 and #4 around 6 weeks, and I'm hoping that even numbers aren't bad luck for us!

Also nervous to be a mother of 4. It seems like a lot! Glad to see others on here with #4 on the way.

And really nervous to tell my family. My parents aren't at all clued in to why I would want to have no children, and so I really just don't want to deal with that conversation!

Excited?

About everything. About the amazing new person who is coming to join us. I can't imagine who they are yet, and this time next year I won't be able to imagine that they weren't with us always.

Bought anything?

Aside from all those pregnancy tests? Not yet.

Heath change?

I'm totally paleo diet, and that's a first for me with pregnancy, so I am excited to see how I feel this time around. I'm caffine free too for the first time. Also I've started going to bed consistently and getting 8-10 hrs sleep each night. That has to make a difference this time around.

Favorite color?

None really, but I'm feeling into bright yellows and greens and reds right now.

Hobbies?

I feel too busy! Working, homeschooling, learning new paleo recipes, hanging with my man, watching true blood, hiking, traveling...

I'm not paleo, exactly, but I've had a lot of digestive problems over the last year (unexplained weight loss and anemia -every test under the sun revealed nothing so they just say that I have IBS). Anyway, I've eliminated grains from my diet, so I'm almost paleo, although I'm still eating dairy. I had terrible morning sickness with my first pregnancy up until the 7th month or so, and I haven't had anything too bad yet. I was wondering if it could be because I'm eating a lot more veggies and nuts, instead of bread and crackers and stuff like that.
