What's going on?
Our whole household is sick, as well as DH's business partner. It seems like we're dealing with about 3 different viruses right now. DH and I had sore throats for a few days that went away with no other symptoms, DS2 had a quick stomach bug (no fever) and now has a cold and then had more diarrhea and vomiting this morning (like 5 days since he last has stomach issues), DS1 and I now both have the cold that DS2 has and DH's business partner had a bad stomach bug with fever and everything.
So I pretty much just want to sleep for a few days and wake up when everyone is better and sleeping through the night again.
When is your first appointment, if you are seeing a doctor or midwife?
I don't have an appointment yet. I'm planning to see my midwife again, but can't afford to do a bunch of prenatal appointments (at $60 each) so I'll call her and communicate that with her. I'll do some of my own prenatal (urine and blood pressure testing, weight etc) so I'll have that info for her when I do see her.
What are you scared or anxious about?
Nothing really that relates to the pregnancy. But business has been pretty slow recently. We own our own business so if things are slow, we just don't have much money. Things always seem to work out, though, so I'm not *really* anxious about it.
I also need to get my paperwork filled out to apply for the state insurance. It's much trickier this time around as it's the first time I'm filling this form out since we became home owners and have IRAs. Just gotta get all that paperwork done and turned in, just in case I need a hospital transfer.
What are you most excited about?
Being pregnant again. Wearing a baby again. Doing cloth diapers again. Tiny little feet. Nursing.
Have you bought anything yet? (dont be shy...)
I bought a couple cloth diapers to add to my stash. I did okay with the amount I already have, but I know it'll be better with the few more I bought. My excuse is that I was buying a bunch for a friend who is just getting started, so I just got a couple for myself while I was at it. :)
I got rid of all my baby clothes and stuff except for my diapers and mei tai, but I think I'll be set with hand me downs from friends.
What is one aspect of your health that you are trying to change for the better during this pregnancy?
Once we all get well again I'd like to be walking around the block every day with my boys. I've also been doing some leg exercises and stretches and hope that will help with sciatica.
I eat pretty well but could do better (I'd like to eliminate flour but I *really* don't want to). I have ulcerative colitis (an inflammatory bowel disease) but the symptoms were not bad during my last pregnancy so I'm hoping things will be nice and steady this time as well. I modified my diet by keeping a food journal after I got sick (during my first pregnancy) and I am fairly strict about it, with an occasional risk with some kind of snack food. I never eat out. I am also on one medication that I plan to be off of pretty soon. I've already cut down to 1/4 of the dose I was on, so I should be off it completely pretty soon.
We've also been juicing a lot which makes me feel great but every time we run out of greens it can take us a few days to get more.
What's your favorite color?
Green. Least favorite is teal.
Any hobbies that keep you busy?
Kids keep me busy, we do homeschool and are home most of the week. Usually in town (45 minutes away) 2 days a week to get together with friends.
If I can make the time, and if I'm in the mood, I love sewing. I made a tiny little diaper and a fleece cover the other day. And I've started the little pile of cloth wipes.
I love reading but don't usually have the time to sit down for very long any more. So I've been listening to audiobooks while I'm making dinner or putting my youngest to bed. Once I have a new nursling I'll be able to do more reading, I just keep the kindle right by my comfy chair. :)
