My baby girl's omphalocele disappeared!!! :) (sry a little long and rant)

Well I went to Toledo yesterday on my way there I read through the packet of info my OB had sent with me to give to the Dr. there...I was appalled but some of the things it said...One was that my baby was missing a kidney (no one informed ME about this!!!) and it also said that while I was admitted into the hospital, for kidney issues, I was texting and able to carry on a conversation (my freaking phone was off! So not possible and who would just ignore the dr as they're talking pain or not!?) Now I am REALLY thinking about changing OB drs!!!...

ANYWAYS I was expecting to find out what all was contained in baby's omphalocele but they said it's gone!!!! This is the best news I've gotten in a long time! The ultrasound tech said she had NEVER seen that happen before! I don't know if any of you read my other posts but at 15 wks I did the quad screen (bad idea!) they told me that baby had 1:8 chance of having DS! After being talked into an amnio I did get one. They told me that she didn't have DS BUT she had an omphalocele...I was 17wks 3 days when they told me that! Around 20 weeks I had an ultrasound and it was still there but smaller and now it's gone! :)  I couldn't be happier knowing my little girl will not have to be having surgery after birth and my stress level went WAY down! The only thing they saw with her kidney was that it's down a little lower than it should be and it's enlarged (or had a cyst) but they're just going to  keep an eye on it...They didn't seem too concerned. (who knows where the missing kidney thing even came up cuz that was NEVER the case!) I know that IF I ever decide to have another baby I will opting out of most of their tests!!!!

This is great news, sahm! I'm so happy for you! Sounds like that OB is really not a good place in terms of organization or communication. I'm so sorry you had to go through so much because of that. I would seriously consider changing drs, too! But the best and most important thing is that your little one is doing great. Wonderful!

Thanks ladies :) It def was the best news!!! I do plan on switching asap! Can't wait to meet my little girl! Before I was excited but scared and wanted to be pregnant for as long as I could...The thought of having my baby and her having to stay for surgery and healing was scary! So glad things are better :)

Great news! Hopefully you can just sit back and enjoy the rest of the pregnancy after all of that :)

Wonderful news! However I would definitely request a sit-down appt. to discuss the results before changing doctors (which I would also do) because I would want to understand that information. I almost wonder if there was a problem with the report or maybe the conflation of two different patients due to the errors in reporting. Hopefully the kidney issue is nothing to worry about, but it sounds serious enough to me that I would want to know more. (Though some people prefer less information, so of course you need to know what is comfortable for you.) It sounds like the testing was made much more stressful by the doctor's treatment of you. I'm sorry you had such a bad experience. My doctors were very clear with me about the purposes of testing, compassionate about every aspect of it, and did not pressure me to do anything. I hope THAT is the experience you have next time, if you choose, instead of this very stressful one - ugh!
