TSH levels and fertility

Hi all,

I haven't posted in this forum much, but I wonder if you all have thoughts on this. My DP and I are TTC number 2, with frozen donor sperm. We're doing IUIs with clomid and a trigger shot, and have had three unsuccessful cycles. This past cycle, I was POSITIVE that I was pregnant- felt cramping starting at 6dpo, just like with my DD. Anyway, lots of BFNs and no pregnancy.

I am also hypothyroid, and am on 112 mcg of synthroid. I just had my TSH tested this week, and it's gone up from 1.0 to 2.0. I know that this is still well within the "normal" ranges, but my previous doctor worked very hard to keep it right at 1.0. Now I have a new endocrinologist who doesn't think it's an issue, and doesn't want to adjust my dosage. Any thoughts on whether this is likely to impact my ability to conceive and keep a pregnancy? Because we're paying $$$ for our sperm, I want to optimize every try. Now I'm just feeling really discouraged...

Thanks for any input.

My understanding is 2.5 or lower is ideal for fertility. Mine was at 2.4 when my twins were conceived. However, you should ensure that they keep track because if it continues to go up that could be an indication you are on the wrong dose or wrong brand. Are you on the brand name Synthroid or on generic?
