Best parts of breastfeeding

What do your babies do while breastfeeding that melt your hearts?

After a bit of a rocky start with oversupply issues, I feel like me and Holden are getting into a bf'ing groove. The things he does while nursing that I find so adorable are softly stroking the skin on my waist with his bottom hand in the cradle hold. Tucking his feet under me while side lying. Nuzzling my breast with his face when he's done eating and falling asleep. He's my first baby, I'm loving experiencing these things for the first time.

It is really so fantastic, isn't it? My favorites are the little hand on top of the breast and how when she is falling asleep, she unlatches and uses my breast as a pillow when we are sitting up. This week we were sitting down to nurse at home and when my breast came out of my top Nora gave it a big smile and coo. That was spectacular. Also, the oxytocin ain't bad either.

I think it's cute when Lennon is really hungry, as soon as the boob comes out, she grabs it with both hands and then attacks my nipple like a shark! LOL! Cutest ever.

Eliza, both before she latches on and when she pulls off and is falling asleep, will gently hold onto my nipple with her hand. So cute!!

Yes, Louisa does the "shark attack" latch as well. :) So funny.

My favorite thing is when she nurses and falls asleep, and detaches like she's passed-out drunk, with a dribble of milk out of her mouth. Then she just grins this huge, satisfied, toothless sleepy grin. Love that baby.

Mine does the shark attack too, I call it her baby bird latch because when she was small it was aimless and snappy like a baby bird. Now she can execute that move with precision though lol.gif

I have been trained not to put the boob away just after she falls off in that drunk stupor. She likes her moment to use my breast as a pillow, with both arms wrapped around it. If I move to cover it too soon, she wakes up unhappy and we have to try again. But if I leave it, she wakes up, like she's checking, and, seeing she's still got her favourite thing in her arms, she looks up at me and gives me the biggest possible smiles. Lots of them. First awake, then sleepy smiles, and she falls asleep for real. I love it! love.gif

I also love the booby pillow thing - Tasmyn loves to nurse and then fall asleep curled up against my tummy, often with my boob as her pillow and a hand over it as if she is claiming it as hers.

But my absolute favourite thing is probably the look on her face as she's about to latch on, especially when she's really hungry - it's just this expression of pure excitement and joy, and I'm pretty much the only one who gets to see it, so I feel like it's a special thing for just the two of us. heartbeat.gif

She also does this cute 'booby monster attack' noise, like "rrrraaaagggghhh" sometimes, I just love her enthusiasm!   Booby  monster has become one of her nicknames because she just can't get enough. She's holding steady at gaining a pound a week now (4 weeks old) and I'm wondering how long she'll continue to put on weight this quickly, it's amazing, but we'll need some new clothes pretty soon if she continues at this rate.

Tavian's favorite thing these days is to hold onto my hand while nursing. Because having a face full of boob isn't enough contact with Mom, apparently :)

Odin kneads my boob like a kitty. It's adorable...as long as I've kept his nails chewed down!

I love the shark attack as well.

just before she latches, rosebud open her eyes wide and makes a perfect o with her mouth and makes a little noise like 'uh! uh! uh!' and it's so adorable. also that her first ever smiles were ones only for me that she would give me just after nursing and that one hand kneading my breast as she nurses when she is especially hungry or excited. she also likes to use my breast as a pillow and if she does it at nap time nothing gets done because how am i supposed to move? I can rarely bring myself to do it.
