I got a blood draw for an hcg check on Friday, we were estimating I was right at about 5 weeks. M/W called today and said my level was 6000 and normal for about 4 weeks 4 days. After looking around at other stats that seems a bit high, right? We were trying to rule out another molar pregnancy and if it were the level would have been closer to 100,000. Eh? I'm getting an u/s later today, I hope I see a baby.

i got good news today, too. my little bugger is 3x the size of 1.5 weeks ago and the heartbeat is now strong and fast! i'm so relieved for both of us!!!

had the ultrasound, saw a gestational sac and a fetal pole. it measured 6wks 3days. i seem to get different dates every time someone else gives me an estimate.she said they would send the results to the m/w and she should call me to go over all of the results with me. made it seem like there were more than just the baby that needed to be discussed. i wonder what she saw. i got a cd of all the pics she took, but its all greek to me. now i have to wait another day or two to see what she has to say about it. argh, waiting!

Yay for heartbeats Jean & Joy!  aotw, oh there's nothing worse than having to wait after getting sort of mixed results on an ultrasound!  Measuring larger than you thought sounds better than measuring too small, though?  Ultrasound technicians are notorious for having really poor social skills and bedside manner.  I wouldn't read too much into her words.

AFM - I just started having a lot of mild cramping this afternoon.  I just did a forum search about it and it sounds like it's pretty common at 4-5 weeks (I'm 4.5), but it's not just one or two cramps here and there - they've kept coming all afternoon.  Pretty mild and no spotting with it, but it is still freaking me out a little.  I suppose I'll just wait and see.  I miscarried 3 months ago so I'm feeling a little jumpy about it.  The ironic thing though is that it was a missed miscarriage and I never had any cramping at all then - I waited almost 3 weeks to naturally miscarry before having a d&C, and so near the end there I was just hoping that every little twinge was a cramp and I would start to pass things myself.

I just got my levels today. I don't know how far along I am...maybe 4.5 weeks but my HCG was like 394 and my progesterone was 27.7. I feel nervous that my HCG is low....I know it's more about the doubling time but compared to others who are about as far along as I am, it seems low. They were happy with my progesterone levels though. So that's a good sign, right?

Definitely a good sign. I wouldn't worry too much about the levels as you're so early. You can always have them checked again to see if they're going up.

1st 5w6d =  5366

2nd 6w1d =  8341

 

The midwife is sending me for an ultrasound to see if maybe my dates are off or if this pregnancy isn't viable. 
This is my 13th pregnancy and I have five kids so I'm feeling pretty sad right now thinking I might get bad news on Wednesday. On the other hand my symptoms are really really strong so I'm confused.

Those levels (and more importantly how they're increasing) seem like they're in the average range for how far along you are. It's good that you get some kind of confirmation so soon though, so at least you won't be waiting around for a couple weeks wondering.

I am exactly 5 weeks today (according to my last period). Had my levels checked and when the nurse called I was at 21,875. Anyone else experienced high levels or know someone who has. I have researched everything online and it's saying either I am farther along than I think, I am carrying multiples or possible molar pregnancy. My father does have twins in his family, but husband doesn't have any. I feel like this is a normal pregnancy, but since I miscarried back in Februaury at 5 weeks so I am paranoid. I just want a healthy pregnancy, twins or no twins.

So I feel like an idiot but I can't figure out how to appropriately "double" my hcg levels to know what they should be. I had blood drawn today to check levels because i've had bleeding/cramping. My cervix is closed though, so doc ordered blood tests before possible ultrasound. ANYHOO I know what my levels were on two different dates earlier in the pregnancy, and therefor know that they doubled within 3 days. So now when I count on my calendar how many times they should've doubled and do the calculations I end up with hcg levels of like 3 mil?! This can't be right. I just want to know around what my levels should be when I find out tomorrow because I bet if I'm at all within a certain range the doc will be whatever about it and I won't have any answers.

HCG reaches a plateau and decreases a little at between 9 and 12 weeks. After like 6ish weeks it's doubling time goes from every 24-48 hours to as low as every 96 hours. By your stage, I wouldn't focus on HCG that much, the most information you could learn would be if it goes down dramatically over a couple days (which we're not going to think about).

Basically, HCG gets really complicated after the first month or two. Ultrasounds are the best bet now, I imagine.

Spotting happens all the time too, I think there's even a whole other thread on that in this group alone. Hope everything turns out well for you
