Broom recs for wood floor

I need a broom for my wood floor.  I have a Bona X flat mop, great for dust and mopping.  I have a HEPA vacuum, but I don't want to haul it out and turn it on every time, plus the bags are expensive and I don't want to fill them up with debris that is easy to sweep.  Currently I have my favorite corn broom, but that is going to scratch the floor over repeated use.

So, I'm hoping to find an "O'Cedar" style broom, preferably something less plastic-y and chintzy/breakable.  I will, however, end up buying that one if I can't find something else.

Those rubber brooms are GREAT for getting pet hair out of carpet, but I never liked using it as my only broom for the floor.

This may not be exactly a broom, but it is non-electric.  I love it for quick clean-up jobs when I don't want to get the vacuum out.  I can sweep area rugs with it as well as the floor, and it's great for the entry way - does the hard floor as well as the entryway rug.  Best of all it's kid friendly!  

DD hates the vacuum noise and just fusses and whines and hangs on me whenever I try to vacuum, so this has been a lifesaver.  It doesn't really do edges at all, so we still have to vacuum occasionally, but I'm pretty pleased with it.

I had one of those when this property just had a scrappy cabin.  I used it on the rug.  It works well on hard wood floors?  That would solve my problem--no money to spend!  And yes, my girls would love it....
