Underarm chafeing for newborn babies

Hi

I have a baby 6 days old & she has underarm chafing i don't know if it's hurting her or not when we gave her a bath & put powder & cream she felt better it just looks really bad is there anything i can do to prevent or help this?

My babe had this repeatedly.  We would wash/dry and then use a zinc oxide diaper cream on the area as a moisture barrier. Burt's Bees worked for us, but California Baby burned when the skin was a little raw.  That worked ok.  Then I got some of the silicone anti-chafing gel (monistat makes one, bodyglide is another) and that worked even better.
