Just gave myself some motivation to keep up with my activity level! I signed DH and I up for the CMY5K in August. I missed the color run, so I'm excited to get another chance (different group, same idea). :D

This is badass thumb.gif

This morning I worked out through a migraine after an almost sleepless night. I didn't want to but am glad I did.

Working as a waitress definitely counts as activity!!  I spent the last two nights bartending a double Flaming Lips show and with all the hauling cases of beer, buckets of ice, etc. and running up and down stairs for six hours... yeah.  Plenty of exercise.  It helps that the restaurant I work in is literally three stories tall with a basement and the concert hall I work at is two stories tall with a basement, so there are lots of stairs involved wherever I happen to be working.  If I come home and my legs and feet are aching and I'm exhausted, I consider that a very active day.  Days when I'm just piddling around the house cleaning and chilling out I try to motivate myself to lift some weights or do some hooping or take a walk, but work days are the days I get my most activity for sure.  :)  Bonus points if the weather is nice enough to walk the fourteen blocks there and back.

Was lazy the last couple of days, but today I walked with baby girl on my back for about a mile and a half and I'm wiped out! I'm seriously considering going to bed...and it's 8:40. I really want to knit, but I think I'm too tired :-/. Extra sleep will be good, night night!

Sunday DH and I walked around the beach and all over town (up and down Seattle's lovely hills... ha).  No idea how many miles it was.

Monday and Tuesday I did a whole lot of nothing. It was cold and rainy, DS1 wasn't home and I was having a rough time with the nausea so I laid low.

Today has been beautiful so we've walked around the neighborhood a few times.

I feel so lazy. Usually I'm on my feet from the time I wake up until the time I go to bed and now I'm definitely spending more time on my butt. Can't wait for the nausea and fatigue to go away!

Jealous! It's been 95-100 degrees and it's supposed to stay that way all week here in Cincinnati greensad.gif we've still made time to go outside in the mornings, but man it's hot. I'm from AZ, so people think I should be fine with it, but humid and 100 is way different from dry and 100!

Going to chill out today and do a long walk tomorrow.

Clarasmama - my DH is from Florida and he is always complaining about the heat here in Colorado and I asked him one day how he survived in Florida and he told me, the humidity makes it feel cooler, I can not understand his thought process! I have been down south and I HATE the humidity, I will take a dry 100 degree day over a humid one any day. When I wake up at 6 am its already close to 80 degrees outside, so i do my outside chores as quick as I can and then I try not to leave the house until late in the day when we go outside to play for a bit and do the outside chores again and water the trees and stuff. They say it will be this hot until the end of August, I think I might be cooked by then!

Ugh... I do not envy those of you dealing with all of the heat right now. It's definitely making me even more thankful for our mild weather in the northwest. We're a little colder than normal right now, but I'm one of those that doesn't mind "rainy gray" Seattle. (And it really isn't as bad as a lot of people make it seem. ;) )

We spent our entire weekend bussing and walking all over to do things as a family. It was fun, but I'm definitely feeling the weight gain and a lower activity level a bit after so much activity. My muscles are sore. I'm already up 10-12 pounds at 13 weeks which is normal for me. I've mentioned before that I'm a pretty big gainer. It's all in my butt and boobs. lol

My fatigue is getting better and I don't feel like a nap is necessary in order to function, and my nausea seems to have let up (although every time I say that I end up feeling really bad again), so I'm hoping I can pick my activity level back up a bit. *fingers crossed* The children are going a bit stir-crazy from being in the house with me all time.

How are you all doing?

Haha, I've literally never heard of the humidity making it feel cooler!! Originally from AZ here, and I can say with certainty that 90 degrees and dry is easy to deal with compared to 90 degrees with 80%+ humidity! Clara doesn't understand yet, so she's always so sad when we can't go play outside at 4pm. Tomorrow I'm working just half the day, so we're going to set up the inflatable pool and splash around smile.gif

I walked for 30 minutes on the treadmill yesterday evening, and walked the mall with a friend in the morning too (before it was even open, just to stay out of the heat!) with the little girl. I seem to do well with something "extra" every other day, so tonight is for resting and I'll hit the treadmill again tomorrow. I can't wait for the fall, or at least a break in the high heat plus terrible humidity!

Oh, I've gained roughly 5-6 pounds at 13 weeks, which is less than last time I think, though my belly is out for all to see already! I'd love to gain less than the first time (50 pounds), so that it's easier to get rid of after the fact.

I need this.  I gained 60 lbs with my first and really need to keep the weight gain down this time around.  I was walking for an hour every day...until the heat hit.  With the temp getting over 100 every day, I just can't get out and exercise.  I need to get my prenatal yoga dvd back out.

I think he is crazy and just really wants me to agree to move to Florida with him, but that just won't ever happen. I am never leaving Colorado! Well Alaska is very tempting but not Florida!

The only thing I have been doing to stay active is cleaning and I'm not even sure that counts. Being sick so long I got really behind and my nesting has already kicked in so I am busy all day working (desk job) and cleaning. Hopefully once I get my house back to normal I can start walking on the treadmill and hooping again.

I just braved the scale for the first time in a month.  I started this pregnancy probably between 120-125, which is the low end of healthy for my height.  At 13.5 weeks I'm up 10 pounds, which I can totally live with.  Last time I gained a lot in the first trimester due to feeling too sick to do much activity and just eating to keep the nausea at bay.  I haven't been very active, really, but with morning sickness a thing of the past I'm ready to get back to my goals of walking every day and adding other things in when I can.  I think 10 pounds sounds like a lot to some mamas at this point but my body is so good at gaining I'm just super pleased it's not 20!  It's sad to say, but it's rare I feel really 'good' about myself during pregnancy so I just wanted to share my little 'win' with someone.  How are you mamas doing?

Yay for feeling good hotsauce!! I'm reclining on the couch at the moment, but about to move my butt over to the treadmill smile.gif Seriously so happy to have that thing, since my only real workout time is when DD goes to bed!

Oh, I bought a yoga groupon for the first time ever the other day, I'm so excited to use it! this studio is close to my house and does prenatal yoga on Sunday afternoon and Wednesday evening, it will be so nice to have some "me" time. It will also be great to force myself to do some yoga, since i've neglected it so badly in the last year. Calm, relaxing, centering...it will be wonderful joy.gif

I'm late arriving to this thread, but I appreciate the ideas and motivation for staying active! Since I've been feeling tired and nauseous (since about week 6), the best I can do is a daily walk and with the heat we've been having lately, I haven't even been doing that. :( I'm noticing that my back is hurting and I'm feeling stiff, likely from not moving enough. I need to get back to lifting a little weight and yoga ... hoping to get back into the swing of those things as I get closer to week 13 (I'll be 11 weeks tomorrow). I've seen workout videos for during pregnancy (I almost never do workout videos, but thought they might be good while preg) ... has anyone found any good ones?

Welcome aboard kodie! The pregnant workout DVDs I have are "Belly Baby" belly dancing, which I actually totally love, and "Baby Yoga" with Shiva Rea (Gaiam DVD). The yoga is a little slow, better for later in pregnancy in my opinion. Walking on the treadmill at an incline is my go to right now, about every other day...though today was washing windows smile.gif

Thanks for the recommendations Clarasmama! I'll check them out. I start my prenatal yoga class next week, and I'm really excited to do some good yoga stretching. I'm glad to hear that others count cleaning as exercise, dusting, vacuuming and cleaning the bathroom are my usual weekend workout! :)

Most of them irritate the heck out of me redface.gif but I do like Zenmama. It's a little weak for me at the moment and I do it during off times, but still good. Speaking of irritating - I do the Jillian Michaels DVDs which will eventually have to be modified.

Kawa I could not do my Jillian DVDs right now! I have 2 or 3 of them, plus Tony Horton's 10 minute trainer. I was doing 10 minute trainer for the first 3 weeks or so but it got to be tough...because I feel silly just doing 10 minutes, but then I'm exhausted after 30...oh well.

Some of the high impact cardio is too much for me. I get really dizzy and just opt for moving period. My little kids are a HUGE obstacle. They can entertain themselves for half an hour unless I'm trying to accomplish something and then it's all bumped heads and needing me. Story of motherhood right there.
