Hello everyone,

I was wondering if someone could recommend a homebirth friendly doctor in NOLA. I would like to find someone before I remove my IUD so I wouldn't have to switch providers (if possible). I have United Healthcare, but we may consider going outside of our network if need be. Thanks everyone!!

Are you looking for a doctor who will attend a homebirth? I don't think there are any in NOLA. There is at least one midwife who attends homebirths, but no OB's. In case you are looking for a midwife, here is one website:

There is also a woman named Emmy Tramell. I'm not sure if she's still current or not. Good luck.

No I wasn't looking for one that attends homebirth. I need someone that will "clear" me for a homebirth, remove my IUD etc. Here in Louisiana it is my understanding that you have to see a Dr. twice during your pregnancy if you are doing homebirth with a midwife. Correct me if I'm wrong someone. I just want to have a regular ob-gyn that is ok with a homebirth, but who I can also go to for regular woman care. Thanks!

Call Jennifer Lapeyrolerie  she is at Touro and she is the ONLY OB/GYN in the whole state that backs the homebirth midwives.   Also, when you are ready to look for a HBMW give Sally Acosta a try.
