Hi Ladies. 

So I know there's probably not many of you that have had AF return but I was wondering what everyone is doing for birth control? I so torn on this whole subject and DH is d-r-a-g-i-n-g his feet on the big V. So it looks like it's on me. :(

Why does it seem like there is no good option?! I guess because it's unnatural to try and control such a thing. 

Sigh... 

The break down...

Condoms... nuisance 

Hormonal (the shot, implant, IUD, pill, patch and ring).... hormones and I don't get along

Paraguard.... allergy to the metal? Or ectopic pregnancy.

Essure.... allergy to nickle

Adiana... high failure rate

Tubal..... early menopause 

Help!

So that's where I'm at too.  I think my real plan is going to be to have a tubal once my period returns.  I had such a scary pregnancy that I know for sure I don't want to get pregnant again and I like the idea of a non-hormonal permanent solution.  I just don't want to go to the dr. or have a procedure done now.  Maybe when I go in next Jan for my annual I'll talk about it? 

It definitely has a damned if I do, damned if I don't feeling to it...

We're planning on my DH doing a vasectomy but he's wanting to wait until DD is 1 year. I have a diaphragm in case my cycle comes back before then. We do not want another baby, so I'm definitely need to start using the diaphragm religiously. Hormones and I do not get a long. I've thought about the copper IUD but not sure...

I was thinking about donating eggs so I don't want to do anything permnament.

The thought of accidentally becoming pregnant again is giving me terrible anxiety dreams, heh. Even though I haven't got my period back we're trying to be careful by using the pull-out method for now. It's not a long term solution though so I'm thinking of maybe getting an iud. Prior to getting pregnant I used the nuva ring and really liked it, but I think I'll go for something non-hormonal this time.

Yeah, I don't see any good options either....

I really don't want to use hormones, but there's not a lot of other good options for me. Condoms don't work, I think IUDs would be a good option, but I'm allergic to copper and had a previous ectopic pregnancy.

I think I need to check out diaphragms.

Do you have to use spermicide gel with diaphragms?

Reading everyone's responses made me realize that my reply was more theoretical at this point... we have not found the time or space for much lovin...  One kid is always awake or in arms it seems.

Yeah, I really don't need to worry about it now...at least until DH and I start getting along better:( AF came back at 5 mo PP w/DS1 and I swear I have cramps today and felt it yesterday so I guess it's just me (so not fair - I feed on demand and DS1 woke EVERY hour all night to nurse). I'm not into modern birth control methods and did NFP before and will do that again. The book is often available at libraries;)

Sorry to hear about you and DH. It's been rocky here too but things are finally looking up.

NFP is how I got pregnant in the first place. It works. But I've gotten so bored of taking my temp lately. I've had AF 3 times now since I gave birth and I have YET to have a clear O spike. My guess is because DS gets up every 1.5 to 2 hours from 2 am to 6 am and I'm not sleeping deep enough to get good BBTs.

we recently started back the lovin because it hurt so freaking badly.  recovery internally from the c birth was shockingly a long and painful process this time. 

at any rate, i had ligation with the c birth but if i had to choose a bc at this point - hypothetically- i would go with the iud.  there is a failure rate, and it can cause ectopic but most of the instances i've heard of with failures were actual viable pregnancies.  and a slim chance of that, compared to other stuff.

Yeah that is the best option but I'm worried I'll react to the copper and it makes you have heavy periods and it's already really bad. Passing HUGE clots and bleeding 2 or 3 times the normal amount.

Have you had any hormonal issue with your tubal?

none that i am aware of but i'm still taking placenta caps and haven't gotten my period back yet. 

my hair is falling out by the stupid handful and i have zits again, so something is happening but nothing obviously awful.

Also I hear BFing can mess with temps. Though it seemed to work for me when I was BFing DS1, though it totally was a pita to take temps, I forgot how annoying that is! I think it's just so hard to use NFP while nursing so often, not sleeping well, stressed, etc.

Mine came back a couple days ago...and I leaked through my Diva cup today, so annoying! I can't believe it came so soon:( I was hoping for longer, I get bad cramps.

I feel ya Mama! I'm working on cycle #4 already. I get really heavy bleeding and leak through EVERYTHING. It's like a massicure. LOL  I got it back with DD at 6 weeks but I was hoping for longer this time b/c I didn't have to go back to work. No such luck.
