Placenta too close to cervix, talk me down peeps! :)

I had my anatomy scan today and (first of all) it's a girl!  Second of all I have fibroids though not big enough to be concerned about at this point.  Third of all my placenta is 1.2 cm from my cervix and the PA said I want it to be 2 cm away,. She told me it will prob grow up as my uterus grows that I'll need to have another scan in 4-6 weeks.  Soooooo, I really don't need to be worried?  I wasn't told not to have sex, not to be active etc, but I also didn't ask.  So, this will really resolve itself right?  Right?

They said the same thing about mine and no one mentioned it again to me.

I have to have another scan for a different reason at 28 weeks but I'll ask them to check.

They didn't tell me to abstain from anything and I'm not worried at all about it.

I haven't had any spotting or any reasons for concern.

And I'm a worrier. So I wouldn't worry until there is a reason to worry.

I am sure the placenta will move up as baby grows.  Please don't stress!!  HUGS!!!

I have the same situation, placenta previa, with this pregnancy.  I also had it with my last two pregnancies.  I am not worried a bit based on my previous pregnancies...the placenta moved far from the cervix as my uterus grew.  In one case it didn't move until around 32 weeks, but was fine after that.  This time around, I have no restrictions on activity, but my midwife did say no sex.  (But my placenta is actually over the cervix right now, so that may be the difference.)  Don't worry yourself at all over this...it will take care of itself in time.  hug2.gif

There is definitely a difference between an actual placenta praevia and a low-lying placenta which remains clear of the os. Either way though there is a good chance that it will resolve. OP I wouldn't be concerned at this stage, there is every chance that your placenta will migrate further up the uterine wall as you progress.

I wouldn't panic yet. Most low-lying placentas resolve themselves.

I have fibroids too, and didn't know until I was 20 weeks pg with my DD. I had awful RLP, but other than that, I never would've known they were there.

Agreed with previous posters....low lying placenta really common and 95% of time it corrects itself.  :)

hug2.gif It is still really early, placenta-wise. The placenta has so much more growing and moving still to do! Try not to worry about it and just be confident that at your next scan, your placenta will be in a perfect position! thumb.gif

Oh, and congrats on your little girl!!! joy.gif

Unless you have bleeding, there is no reason to avoid dtd. Yes, it more than likely move. I had a complete previa at 20w with my first and it moved with no problem.
