So, I've got a colicky baby. Like, super bad. Awake or fussy all day and all night. If I put her down she gets hysterical. Projectile vomiting, screaming, etc. It's been lovely. And I have been SO hungry...because, if I don't eat dairy she's fine. Which is awesome. Whatever it takes. But, it still takes a few days for it to clear her system and her to settle down. She is SO much better today that my dh has been in shock. Who is this baby?!? he keeps saying.
Well, tonight I had a brillant idea. I've been wanting watermelon SO bad, but I can't cut it up. Firstly, there's too much stuff all over the counter. Secondly, I don't have enough time between screaming spurts, and I can't do it while jostling her. Tonight I realized that I could cut it in half, and put it in a bowl. I've been using my melon baller and I can very easily grab a bite whenever I want it! Yay!
And, then, (this doesn't count as healthy, lol), I can grab a tortilla and smear some pb on it in random fashion, and sprinkle on a few chocolate chips. Fold in half and microwave for 15 seconds. Yummy!
So, there's my two ideas.
What's your super quick, one-handed, can eat while dealing with crying baby snack?
(Let's not talk about the virtues of leaving your baby and getting some alone time, or how crazy it is not to take a break and how that's a bad idea for a mama, etc. Some of us don't really have an option, and that stuff isn't helpful. My dh is home as much as he can, and helps a lot, but...I have 4 kids, a colicky newborn, major construction in my backyard, and I'm moving in 3 days. And I did leave the baby for a hour last week, and for 3 hours this morning...for a root canal, and subsequent crown prep. And, as much as it's super nice to be loosing weight, I really need to eat. So...whatcha got?)
