Hello Moms,
i am undergoing IVF treatments at the royal vic. After this i would like to give birth at a hospital that is pro natural birth. I was thinking of going  to St. Mary's or the Jewish general. i was wondering if you guys have pictures of the birthing rooms. What is provided in the rooms and which doctor followed you through your pregnancy? Thank you guys so much.

My sister gave birth at St. Marys - but it was 9 years ago.  It was not natural childbirth friendly - they did not encourage people walking the halls, the rooms were yucky. Unless it has changed, I would give it a pass.

If you are an anglophone, and language is an issue,  it might comfort you to know many of the nurses and doctors at St. Mary's are English.

There is a Montrealer on MDC - PianoJazzgirl.  It might be worth it to pm her and ask her for any feedback she might have.  Do a search for her name in the search bar, then go to one of her posts, and click the little arrow beside her name.  Hit "send pm".

Any birth centres in Montreal - those would be my preference.  I am not in love with most Montreal hospitals.

Bienvenue a MDC!

Back when I was pregnant LaSalle was the new and exciting hospital for more natural birthing.  They have birthing tubs, but honestly, that's about all I know since I was unable to get an appt. with an OB there.  I had a terrible time finding an OB in general (specialist shortage) and ended up giving birth at the Vic (which I do NOT recommend!). If I knew then what I know not I probably would have tried harder re: birthing centres, doulas, etc.  In any case, the main site is here:  http://www.csssdll.qc.ca/nos-installations/l-hopital-de-lasalle/

I gave birth at the Vic twice and all went fine. Why do you not recommend it?

I gave birth twice at LaSalle, and had a very positive birthing experience. From the position I wanted, to waiting a few minutes to cut the cord...  and this time, every nurse who attended to me during my stay was able to have a decent coversation in English. With my first that was born there, most couldn't talk more than a few words.

Getting to a family doctor there isn't too hard if you're pregnant.

I had one birth at the Jewish, and changed to a Dr. who works at LaSalle, and birthed there, because it was more natural than the Jewish.

I just heard of a birthing center near LaSalle. Don't have any info. on it. A friend told me she gives birth there.

There is a nice birthing center at the West End.
