De-lurking. FeralFox, did you do carb loading prior to your glucose tolerance test? (3 days of at least 150 grams carb intake.) The paleo diet is often low carb, and low carb diets cause temporary insulin resistance which will lead to false positives on the GTT. I unwittingly hooked myself up with a GD diagnosis with my first pregnancy because I was eating paleo before the 1 hour and 3 hour tests. I had absolutely no other symptoms, never failed a single home monitor measurement. This pregnancy, I did carb loading prior to the exams and passed with perfect #s. When I am eating normal amounts of carbs, I have perfect blood sugar control... my fasting #s and in-between-meals #s are in the low 70s, my post-prandial #s never go much above 110. :) And I still failed both glucose tests with my first pregnancy, eating low carb!! Hope this helps.
