when would i ovulate?

Usually around the time I ovulate, I get egg white discharge, then mild cramping with watery discharge, then more painful cramping with watery discharge (this is in a span of five days). Then the cramping and discharge go away. I just read somewhere that most women ovulate AFTER cramping, but if that's true then why would my discharge stop? I thought its the egg white discharge that's the most fertile. Now I'm wondering if we are having sex on the wrong days :/

I think for many women the egg white cervical mucus (EWCM) stops before ovulation.  Sperm can live for a few days in EWCM, and they want to be there ready and waiting when the egg pops out.  Closer to O, maybe you don't need the EWCM because the sperm will go to work right away and not need to hang around for a while.
