Elizabeth, I hear you about being nervous, I'm sorry for your loss *hugs*

Tear78, I know we were TTC our first at the same time, I remember your story!  Also had pre-e with my first, feeling nervous about it this time, but hoping for the best.  Congratulations!

Peace+Hope, I remember you! I'm sorry you were also pre-e. Eat lots of protein now! That's what I heard MAY help. goodvibes.gif

I'd love to hear more of your story.  preeclampsia.org is a fantastic resource, and I got support on the forums PP too.

What do you want to know? I was swollen for months before the pre-e made itself clear, but I wondered. Then at about 35 weeks I had protein in my urine, and the next week I had a little more, and at almost 37 weeks I had enough that they sent me to the hospital for bloodwork, and I was admitted for an induction that night. It was over 7000, which is apparently sky-high. My blood pressure wasn't terribly high, but high for me. I was put on mag-sulphate, given a catheter (fun fun), and induced. I had some contractions and dilated a bit, but then my water broke and everything stalled. They gave me pitocin and an epidural (because pain would have maybe made my BP go up), and after almost two days I still hadn't dilated any more. Then my kidneys stopped outputting urine, and they said I needed to get a csection, which apparently was a little more risky due to the mag-sulphate. The pitocin didn't stop the bleeding, but something else did so everything turned out fine. DD was a fighter the whole time. love.gif It was tough, but here I am ready to try to go through this again. lol...hopefully without the pre-e this time. My OB said that I have a slightly elevated risk, but not too bad. Sorry if that was too much...blush.gif What was your story?

Tear, Woah, what a ride!!  I remember PP I was feeling like maybe I shouldn't put me/us through the experience again, and I worry about having Pre-e at all, and especially earlier.  The really good thing about it hitting late is that usually repeat incidences are later in your pregnancy.

You sound like you've processed it and are at peace with your birth, that's great!  (((((((hugs)))))))) to you.

I had some swelling and slowly rising BP from 30 weeks.  Urine was clear until 36+5 when I went to my GP to see if she could prescribe some BP meds (I was planning a HB with MWs who don't have prescriptive capabilities), or if she had any advice for me.  We were starting to worry it wasn't safe to labor at home but still thought I *just* had gestational hypertension.  At the office my urine came back spilling protein for the first time, and she wrote an order to get me directly into L&D observation right away.

I went, hoping they would monitor me and maybe send me home :/.  Didn't take long to be admitted and go on the mag/sulf and labetalol.  I feel really fortunate to be in a HB friendly area, my MWs were there and we were able to try some natural induction techniques for about 24 hrs.  But as you know, the longer on the big drugs the worse it is, and we eventually did Pit.  Little guy was born about 15 hrs later.

If you are with an OB practice, I'm curious whether they have recommended baby aspirin to you?

I'm also nervous about joining a DDC as I also had a recent 2 trimester loss, but here goes.  I'm taking the plunge!

EDD: March 22 (coincidently, this is exactly the date I had my loss this year...I guess this little soul really wants to be born on our around the spring equinox!)

Age: 35..I'll be 36 soon though
State or Country: Canada
How long it took to you to get your BFP: this is the 2nd try after the loss

What number child is this for you: 2nd
Family: DP and DD, 2.5
Baby's Gender (hopes or guesses): I know it's cliché, but I just want a happy healthy baby!
Birth Plans/Preferences: We will be going back to the same birth center where DD was born.  It was awesome.  I just got a midwife from the practice that has birth rights there.  Last pregancy, I didn't get it, and would've had to give birth at the hospital (or home).  I really had a beautiful experience at that birth center so I'm seing this as a good sign!

I'm going to tentatively join you ladies here. I've had two losses, so I'll be a bit skeptical until I hit the 'magical' 12 weeks, but here I am :)

  • EDD :  Last week of march. Sometime in the March 26-30th window
  • Your Name: I'll go with Jello - maybe I'll share my real name once we're 'outed' to our family and friends
  • Age: 20
  • State or Country: Canada
  • How long it took to you to get your BFP:  We weren't actively trying, but it's been 10 months since my last m/c. Got a bit distracted with moving to a new house, and wasn't paying close enough attention to my chart. Happy accident!
  • What number child is this for you: Technically #2 (4th pregnancy) - I had a son when I was a teenager and he was placed for open adoption. But this will be #1 for DP and I  :)
  • Family (partner, other children, and/or furbabies):  DP, two dogs (2 year old St BernardX, and a 5 month old Bullmastiff X), and a cat
  • Baby's Gender (hopes or guesses):  I would love a boy, but I'm getting strong "girl" feelings
  • Birth Plans/Preferences:  Homebirth with a midwife.  My son was a hospital birth with a midwife, and while it was AWESOME, I'd much rather be in my own home!
  • Blog, website or the like:  once we're 'outed' to family and friends, I'll share!
  • Because DP and I aren't married (yet), our families are going to be VERY unimpressed with us. Combine that with my previous losses, and we really don't want to tell anyone until we're 12 weeks along. This may be hard though, because I'm very slim/underweight (100lbs), and I'll probably show VERY quickly. I guess we'll see what happens!

Hi everyone!

  • EDD: March 15-24th... not sure yet (more on that below)
  • Your Name: Sam
  • Age: 23
  • State or Country: Illinois at the moment, but I'm moving to Oregon in a few days!
  • How long it took to you to get your BFP: Well, we weren't really trying, but we were getting progressively less careful over time. I'm very happy with the timing though!
  • What number child is this for you: 2nd
  • Family (partner, other children, and/or furbabies): Partner- Seth, Son- Vincent (3), kitty- Peyton (but I'm going to have to leave him with a friend when we move until I'm able to fly back and get him.
  • Baby's Gender (hopes or guesses): I'd like a girl, but obviously I'll be thrilled either way. I'd rather wait until birth to find out the gender, but if my partner wants to know ahead of time, that's fine too. (We haven't discussed it yet. We just got the BFP 3 days ago.)
  • Birth Plans/Preferences: Homebirth. For sure. My last hospital experience was pretty awful.
  • Blog, website or the like: n/a
  • Anything else you'd like to share: About the due date... if I calculate it based on LMP, I get March 20th, but I know that's not accurate. The only days I could have conceived on would have been CD 9 or CD 19, which would make my due date either the 15th or the 24th. The 15th would be pretty crazy because that was my exact due date with my son. Either way, this baby could possibly share a birthday with my son. (March 30th)

Sami - if you ovulated on CD14, sex on CD9 would totally get you pregnant, so your EDD would be March 20th. Sperm can live for up to 5/6 days in the uterus/fallopian tubes. In fact, one of my friends charts and had sex 8 days before ovulation (her DH deployed, so that was the only time) and she got pregnant! Talk about super sperm!

EDD: March 15, and my son's birthday is the 10th of March.. March is going to be expensive!

Age: 26

State or Country: Hawaii

How long it took to you to get your BFP: Over a year after a loss

What number child is this for you: 2, knock on wood

Family (partner, other children, and/or furbabies): dh, ds, and a hyper shepherd.

Baby's Gender (hopes or guesses): haven't the foggiest but my friend who dreamed I was pregnant (weeks before I found out!) picked a boy name.

Please remove me from the list. I had my first u/s today and the baby is measuring over a week smaller than it should be and heart rate is only 70. Doc (and I) expects me to miscarry again. Happy and healthy pregnancies to the rest of you.
