New to Dayton - What can you tell me?!

Hey! 

 Our family just moved to Kettering. I Would LOVE to meet some like minded families in the area. I need advice on Dr.'s and schools - you name it! We're delighted to be in a community that seems like it has a lot to offer. Still, I'm a bit surprised by the resistance to bfeeding I've already encountered, - it puts a sense of urgency under my belt to connect with mothers that believe in instinctual parenting - and might help me navigate a community that is more"main stream" (whatever that means exactly :)

I grew up in Kettering. I don't live there anymore, but am only about 30 minutes away and still have family in Kettering.

It is actually pretty surprising to me how "non-crunchy" the area is :-( You might want to try out some La Leche League meetings. There is a great active group in East Dayton which is probably pretty close to you, and I understand there is a pretty good group in Centerville as well. 

How many LOs do you have, and how old are they? Don't know what kind of schooling you are interested in, but I can tell you at least a little bit about Kettering schools, the local private schools, available e-school options, and homeschooling requirements in the state.

We have a great ped in Xenia, which is a little bit of a drive from Kettering, but totally worth it for the great care provided. Her name is Nancy Hesz at Star Pediatrics.
