Vax's after 2

Are there some that would be useless to vax against at this point?

We are finally coming around to getting dd vaxxed, one by one. So far she has had DtaP. And one Hib, but that was when she was six months. She is two now, and I don't want to give her something she doesn't need.

Hep A&B, flu, pneumovax...what are your plans for your dd? Stay home or go to daycare?  I havent heard of outbreaks of Hep A or B in daycares being rampant, and the flu vax is uesless too..if you think about it, how many kids get the flu vax, and then the whole school is under an 'epidemic' of flu, even tho 95% of the school is vaxed for it.

Lol. So funny, even though it is sort of sad. I don't think I would do flu for any reason, even though I succumbed to H1N1 during my pregnancy because I was scared.

So she will be home, with me, however we play a lot out at parks, activity zones, etc.
And I will have a newborn in a few months.
I guess my concern lies in her not getting tetanus, or shedding pertussis to newbie.

Question about Prevnar, does that only protect dd or would it aid in keeping pneumonia away from newborn?
Am I correct in thinking that dd has a strong enough immune system now to fight pneumonia?

well, it might help you to know my kids are 24, 19, 17, 16, never vaxed.....no issues with any kind of diseases.  My youngest had pneumonia at 5mos old, so i don't know about a vax helping to aid in protecting the baby...we never knew where my ds got his pneumonia at 5 mos old.  You should read up more about tetanus, how its transmitted, and the stats for the USA...there are very few cases of tetanus, and mainly they are in elderly, and IV drug users.  There are a lot of links in others posts i have seen regarding tetanus and whooping cough.   And you can't be too sure prevnar will do what it claims either... vaccination is a gamble, imo.

I just vaxed DD last week. We delayed everything except for the Dtap until two. She wont be getting rotavirus. She is only going to get one dose of HIB and prevnar. I wont do flu vax.

It took me a while to come around for the mmr and chicken pox, but I'd rather her get it, so she's going to.

Adaline'sMama, is your DD going to be home-schooled? If she's going to go to regular school, is one dose of HiB and Prevnar enough to show that she has been vaxed? Won't the school ask her to become up-to-date?

I'm asking because my 2-yr-old DS has been selectively vaxed and I'd like to stop if one dose is enough for school records. TIA

We aren't sure yet. My ped told me that was all she was required to have, but I cant look at the vax schedule because my computer is being crazy and wont open pfd files and I cant find a website that just lists that schedule on their site.

This might vary by state (maybe someone else can chime in) but I'm pretty sure you just fill out a form that says your kid is either non-vaxed or selectively vaxed and the school has to let your kid in.
