Hey ladies, I'm exactly 7 weeks today, woke up to go to the bathroom this morning at 6 am and had a some bright red watery discharge (sorry if TMI) when i wiped, none on the toilet though. I went back to bed but couldn't sleep any longer, There's isn't anymore spotting but I'm freaking out badly. I haven't decided on midwifes yet and don't know if going to the ER would be of any help. Might book an early ultrasound to check heartbeat. I just need to calm down and the fact that i never bled with my other two pregnancies makes it hard ...
Spotting =( praying, light, good wishes appreciated
You poor thing! How stressful. I spotted with this pregnancy around 5 weeks and was worried because I hadn't spotted with my others. After a day of hemming and hawing I went to the ER but it was more frustrating than anything-- I was too early along to see a heartbeat and basically was bored in a hospital for 5 hrs for nothing. But since you're 7 weeks along and worried, going to the ER might be a good plan, just to put your mind at ease. They'll give you an US and check your hcg levels. I'm usually more of a wait-and-see person and avoid the medical establishment... but sometimes it's hard to do that when you're spotting. Whatever you decide I wish you peace and hope and light.
I've been told (by doctors) that as long as the bleeding isn't heavy and isn't accompanied by painful cramping, then it probably isn't anything to worry about. Did you have sex within a day or so before the spotting started, because sometimes that causes some blood.
I agree with Jean though, do whatever makes you feel better. If you would prefer to go get it checked out, I would say go for it.
This was me yesterday.
I uhm.. wipe kind of hard because Im paranoid and I had some twinges of bloodish something. Wiped again.. still there. Stuck my finger in.. wiped my finger on toilet tissue.. Freaked out. I mean called my husband -alerted the national guard freaked out. Hubbie said call the doctor. I called the doctor.. she said as long I wasnt using a maxi pad every 3 hours then to breathe. She also asked if I had relations with my husband.. I said I did but it was saturday. I was pacing..She told me my beta's were over 35,000 on the previous friday.
I shoved a clump of toilet tissue in so I could keep an eye out and nothing ever again.
I hope this stays this way and is also the case for you*
I would definitely find a midwife or OB, so you can call them in the future with any questions like these. It helps to have a caregiver you trust to guide you through some of the weird things that can happen during pregnancy!
So i ended up calling the midwife that worked with us with my youngest and she basically said the same you guys are saying, watch for cramps and period like bleeding. So far i didn't have any more spotting still worried of course but the fact I'm not having any pain makes it a little better. I'm meeting another midwife today that sounded super amazing on the phone so hopefully we find someone that we love =) thanks for the support ladies, i hope we can all continue this journey together
Praying for your sweet baby. Bleeding in early pregnancy is really common.
I had heavy bleeding with my 3rd. Heavier than a period. For about 48 hours. There were no clots or anything fleshy (I was 11 weeks so looking for a tiny baby). My daughter is now 6.
I freaked out over it so much I went to an urgent care clinic. You don't know me but I never seek medical attention, but I couldn't get my midwife on the phone and I needed to "know." Obviously you need to do what will make you feel better, and maybe going to the ER could help, but my experience, like Jean's above, was a waste and so frustrating. They couldn't tell me anything, didn't even offer to check for a heartbeat at 11 weeks! After 5 or 6 hours they sent me home with a "threatened miscarriage" and told me everything seemed okay because my cervix was still closed. I think I paid $400 for that, too. That included a pregnancy test which came back positive. No kidding.
Two days later my m/w came over and found the heartbeat w/ her doppler. It took her 10 seconds.
Good luck to you, I hope by now your spotting has diminished.
