My doppler is old and doesn't really have a brand, i got it off ebay ..  i wouldn't recommend it even if i knew what it was, its battery life SUCKS.

I couldn't really hear the HB today, after hearing it last week (wed/thurs/sat 8w2d, 3d, 5d) .. I had a hard time finding it saturday with my midwife, she said it sounds like i have an anterior placenta.. my uterus has grown a lot in the past week and the placenta has gotten a LOT louder and now i'm having a REALLY had time finding the baby's HB .. so annoying!  I heard it a little today, it was really faint and kept moving away, it wasn't really enough to make me feel better but i know it was there..   i hate to overuse the doppler but that is why i have it, cause i get paranoid and i need to hear it.. it just sucks to know that my placenta placement is likely to mkae it hard to find for the next month or so..

I have my first prenatal on Thursday.  I'll be 7w5d.  I've gone back and forth about rescheduling it because I don't want to risk NOT hearing the baby, and there's pretty little chance we will.  I don't know if I can handle listening to that empty whooshing doppler noise that we heard when we found out we lost our last baby at 10 weeks.  We had a scare with DD1 too, not finding the heartbeat after we'd found it the previous appt., and we spent SO LONG searching for it. That noise is just etched into my head.

Sorry brambleberry- that sounds so awful. Hopefully you guys can find the heartbeat tomorrow. My appt. Yesterday igave myself 25% chance to hear the baby (at 9 +5) and my midwife was having such a hard time finding bean. And even when she found it.... it was for 2-3 seconds before baby moved. Anyways. I am really sorry and I understand how scary it must be. Good luck.

brambleberry - at 7 w5 days i would lean toward not even looking for the HB with that kind of background, the chances you'd hear it are so small and if its just going to be traumatic to try and not find it, then you might just ask if you can come back once a week for a HB check until you can find it - with a history of m/c many care providers will accomindate that sort of request to calm mom's nerves.  I was able to find this baby at 8w2d (i tried at 7w6d) and then i couldn't find it yesterday at 9w after 20 mins of searching!  I found it in about 3 seconds today.. dopplers just aren't 100% at this stage, even after you've heard the HB once..

I didn't even know that people would try and check for hb's with a doppler at 7-8 weeks. The chances of hearing it with a transvaginal us are pretty high, but I'm almost 10 weeks and I cant even find heartbeats with a doppler even though we heard them at 7 weeks via us.

So I've had some spotting for the past week, and my hcg levels went down, so I was scheduled for an US this morning to make sure everything was okay. I prepared myself for the worst but there was the bean, heartbeat at 171, even moving some limbs around. I had previously been 9.5 weeks but they changed it to just over 10 wks, which makes a  lot more sense with what I thought for timing. Guess my hcg is going down because the placenta is starting to take over. Exciting!

Yay!!!!! Congrats Jean!!!  So glad for you.  Bonus, you are further along than you thought...so less sick days left!!

You were right, Adaline'sMama.  My doc didn't even offer to check for a heartbeat.  So my next appt. will be at 12 weeks, with an excellent chance of hearing the HB.

Didn't hear it at my visit, have to wait til about 16w. Hoping we can pick it up with the fetascope and skip the Doppler as much as possible, it bothered my second and made his heartrate go really high and made him kick, though it stayed steady listening with a Pinard horn.

I tried and tried to find the heartbeat with our doppler, but nothing yet. I have a 2 mhz, so it is made for 2nd trimester and beyond. I have an appointment next Friday, so I should be one day shy of 10 weeks. Holding breath because the sound of silence is deafening at an u/s!!

We're still waiting for our doppler to arrive in the mail.

DH continues to think I'm nuts for dropping money on the little machine, but I think he'll come around once he gets to hear the hb for the first time in the comfort of our own home :)

Saw it and heard it on Friday - 162 bpm at 8 weeks!  Crazy!  My little man's never got above 150, and at 7w1d it was 119.  This one has to be a girl... lol

My boys had 170-180 bpm early on. No good for the gender prediction stats.

I have GOT to get a doppler. Being 41years old, I am just terrified of losing this baby. I cannot wait until this first trimester is over. I had my first OB visit on 7/2 where pregnancy was confirmed and dated at 8 weeks 1 day - rapid heatbeat 171.  Last week, went in for my first "official" prenatal visit and had another vag U/S, baby measured 10 weeks but my OB would not change my DD of 2/10/13. She says the earlier U/S is more accurate, although in my gut, I feel further along than that. Also, she told me she was 95% sure that I was having a boy. Kinda surprising considering baby was only 9 weeks 2 days at that time. After hearing that heartbeat two weeks in a row - I'm hooked. I am dying to hear my little guy again, especially until I get past the 12 week mark. What do you suggest for a doppler - the Sonoline-B?

The Sonoline B is great, but if you can afford the 3 mhz, get that one over the 2.

why? this sounds really judgmental to me.

I thought this was a place for more natural stuff. Ultrasound waves come with risks that should only be taken with valid medical reasons. Just a little disappointed that I escaped the facebook group to come here hoping for a safe haven. Sorry to sound judgmental. I'd be happy to share some information on the risks of ultrasound and doppler if anyone is interested.
