Some terrible news. Neither of  Xerxella's twins had heartbeats when she went for her ultrasound yesterday. I feel just sick for her- I know this is is very devastating news for her. Please everyone keep her and her family in your thoughts.

I am so, so, so sad for her!  She and her family are in my prayers.

I went for my anatomy scan today, and everything looks good. The babies are growing well, with baby A just a tad bit smaller than baby B, but no discordant growth. All parts look healthy and good. I can breathe and finally get excited!!

Did I mention that I got a minivan!!! Super cool, I know.

congrats  on the good scan, i bet that feels great

Adaline's Mama: glad you had a good scan!   Get excited!!!

Our girls (di-di) were a little off with their growth from 20 weeks.  Never more than 20%.  HOwever, they are different genetic material...just like singleton sibs are different body types and sizes. Our girls, now at 2 and 4 months are about a whole pound different, the lighter one is about an inch taller, she's like her dad...tall (he's 6'3") and lean and the other is more like me, a bit more athletic/solid in her build. (I'm 5'4" and in the 130s when not preggo with twins!)

Our mono-di twins in utero are almost spot on in growths/estimated weights.  They are 0.4% different!  Its shocking how close they are...but with the same genetic material, we would expect them to be closer in size.

On the mini-van front: which one did you get?  We are also intending to purchase one before these new ones come.  However, we close on the sale of our place and the purchase of another on the 26th and so moving is coming before a new minivan right now!  There's too much going on!  As well, since I'm 31 weeks and beginning to feel and apprently look ginormous (people have begun asking not only when I'm due but, the actual question of, "are you due soon?!"), packing and 2 toddlers is certainly getting more challenging!

We got  used 2004 Honda Odyssey. It was a great deal- and I found it on Craigslist. I looked for over two months, and when I found it- I knew it was exactly what we wanted. It was only $4500, which was right in our price range (Under $7000), so we jumped and bought it.

My in-laws have a honda odyssey and love it. I have driven in it many times and find it roomy, comfortable and a smooth ride.

We are planning on buying a mini-van sometime soonish too. We will probably go with a Grand Caravan because they are cheaper, have stow-n-go seats (can use the room sometimes to pick-up lumber and other home reno materials) and we have heard good things about them.

Hey there!

My laptop took a nose dive out of my hand 3+ inches from the floor and now the monitor/video card is not working. ARGH.  But still moving along @13 weeks and everything looks great! Hopefully I'll be back online soon.

Question...when did you ladies start to feel movement from the babes? I'm 15 weeks and i'm starting to think I might be feeling movement, but am not sure. I thought I would for sure be feeling them by now. Also is it normal to already be having braxton hicks contractions?

I've felt a little bit of movement every now and then, though the one baby I feel the most.  I'm almost 17 weeks, so I hope I start to feel the other soon!

i never felt anything till about 21-22 weeks, then in the matter of about 3 days i went from the first little kick to them never stopping.  this was not a case of placenta location at all , just took a while.

I'm 18.5 weeks and feeling minimal movement. I feel stuff if I sit really still and poke around on my belly or if I walk too fast and BH starts, but other than that it's still pretty random and not regular.

I am almost 18w and i am not really feeling them much. I DID feel them REALLY.early(like 12-13w) with the little flick type movements, but now it seems like it is few and far between. I felt my singletons more by this point. I will think, "hey, that felt like movement!" and then stop and wait for more, but it never seems to.come. it is so.weird, but i am glad to know it is not just me.

I'm 14 wks and I have felt like fluttery movements but definitely nothing as strong as a kick yet. And it's definitely completely random when I feel it.

Anyone reading any good books on twins? Either during pregnancy or what to expect after?

I checked out the Barbara Luke's What to Expect When You're Expecting Multiples (not sure if that is the correct title, but something like that) at the library and it has a lot of good information.

I read Barbara Luke's book with this pregnancy and the last.  I think it has great dietary advice that is missing from many OBs.  ITs a huge piece of the multiples puzzle!

So, almost 17 weeks, and man oh man does my lower back/butt hurt!!! I've never had issues with pain in pregnancy but man this hurts!  Any advice on how to feel better?

I really felt like her dietary requirements were outrageous for me. There is no way I can eat 175 grams of protein per day and have any room for anything else. I've been trying so hard to follow those guidelines and I've only gained 8 lbs at 19 weeks. I feel like reading that book scared the crap out of me and I feel like a failure - like I must be starving by babies.

I think there's a lot of good advice in there, but I don't like her tone and I wish there were more informational books with dietary guidelines so that I had something to compare it to.

Mine too! My parents are physical therapists and found that it was my SI joint. They gave me a belt to wear and when I wear it, it really helps.
