Hi ladies!!!

Sorry for going MIA, I've been spending a lot of time on the Facebook twins group, oh! And nursing my two new baby GIRLS!!!

They are three weeks old now!

I had a successful HBAC at 40 weeks. The girls were 8lbs 4ozs, and 8lbs 2ozs.

I'm writing up my birth story now, and I need to sort through some pictures to share

It was tough going to 40 weeks when I kept getting the "twins go early" speech from my perinatologist and the general public. I'm glad I did though because I have a feeling these girls would have been nicu babes if I had them at 36 weeks when they wanted to induce me.. So, you don't have to have early twins, or tiny twins!

Can't wait to read all o your birth stories!

It's so encouraging to see someone going to full-term with twins, and not underweight...I feel like there are a disproportionate amount of "scary" stories out there.

So great!!!  And, perfect timing for me to hear this!  I'm 38 weeks and 4 days with mono-di babes and some of my docs think I should have had a c-section already (breech baby A).  Its inspirational to see others with healthy fullterm babes.  Thanks for sharing!!!  Way to go!!

I agree with you...our mono-di's have been getting every other week scans for fluid levels (started this at 18 weeks) and every four weeks scans for growth (began at 20 weeks).    Three weeks would be a max I would think, between scans.  Sending you the best thoughts for you and your little ones.

Well, I'll join! Just found out at our first appointment last Wednesday that I am expecting twins, they do run in the family so it makes some sense, but we were not expecting it at all!

Di/Di per my regular OB, getting it confirmed by a high-risk OB in a couple weeks

As I mentioned, fraternal twins run in the family. I have 3 different aunts that had them and my Grandma miscarried a pair as well. We don't know yet if these are fraternal, but I'm guessing so. I'm sort of hoping for a boy and a girl, but we'll be happy with anything. I had a quick, uncomplicated, no drugs, hospital birth with Sydney (I did have an IV for about 45 minutes and EFM for maybe 1.5 hours, but that was it for interventions which was nice) and I'd love to have a vaginal birth with the twins too, but I know I need to get my research in order first as I know the risks and everything are much different than a singleton birth. I'll be reading through this thread and others in this forum to pick up all the advice and whatnot I can. If anyone has good book recommendations, I would love them, or if there already is a thread on that, if you could point me to it. Thanks ladies!

SortaCrunchy - yes! The fb group was started a long time ago, it originated from these boards

Search for a fb group called "naturally parenting twins" - its great. There are tons of mamas who went full term, had home births, etc. It was super helpful for me during my pregnancy

Just a quick update at 34.5 weeks: Growth US today shows Baby A measuring 5 lbs 8 oz and Baby B measuring 6 lbs 9 oz. I'm not sure quite how accurate that is since both babies were moving a lot during the US and she was having some difficulty obtaining measurements, but either way looks like we have some good size boys! My blood pressure was really good today and when she checked my cervix she said I was between 3 and 4cm this week. Hopefully they can hold on a couple more weeks, but at this point if they are ready, they're coming!

Welcome to the new twin mamas-to-be, and congrats, withlittlelungs!

How is everyone doing? I am 24 weeks today and at exactly 24 lbs. weight gain. This was my goal per the Dr. Luke book--although I took the portions/servings with a grain of salt and ignored most of the specifics, I decided I really wanted to try for the early weight gain. I can't imagine what I would have gained if I would have followed the specifics, as I don't feel I've been eating TOO much; ie I eat when I'm hungry, with 3 meals and 3 healthy snacks per day.

Went to my OB yesterday and everything looks good-my cervix is long & no complications/signs of PTL, etc. I am really glad as I have been getting rather anxious when reading about how many twin mamas get put on bed rest. Not that it still can't happen, but I felt really good coming out of the appointment. She also said my exercise routine is perfect for where I'm at, so I can stop worrying about that, too. I'm swimming once a week, doing prenatal yoga once a week, and light weights/pilates for 20 minutes 2x/week.

I also seem to be sleeping through the night a little better.

How is everyone else feeling?

I am DEFINITELY sleeping so much better at night. I think I am just so worn out by the end of the day that I just completely crash.

I'm really, really trying to do better with drinking water. I even put it on my daily To-Do list. :) I know it will help with so many these BH ctx I've been having!

Figured I'd update..... Well baby girl has some kidney issues (just found out), not loving the MFM doctor much at this point as they failed to tell us there was something wrong.  We are now being monitored every 2 weeks by ultrasound to keep watch.  I toured our L&D dept at the hospital... it sucks... they don't allow twin moms to deliver in the regular room, you have to deliver in the OR, not happy about that. They also put two moms per room after delivery.... again... not happy about that.  Such a crappy day.  But... both babies are growing right on track.  I've only gained 3 pounds as of today (24 weeks 4 days.)

on that OR thing, remember a lot of things get presented as "LAW" but in fact are negotiable, my tour said no way, must be OR and was really rude to me when i said something about it. my doc said he was fine staying in the normal room as long as i was both vertex and would talk to me about things if baby b was breach.  i did end up staying in a normal L&D room, and it was because i didn't take the first wave of info as the bottom line.

Remember that a lot of times, even though they say they are going to put two moms in an L&D room after birth, they dont because there are two babies rooming in, and it makes things a bit more cramped.
