Awww man...I was in the middle of a long post when my computer died. I'll try to remember what I said earlier...
Sego, joining in on the relief that your family is ok. What an incredibly stressful time for you! I am so sorry for all that you have had to deal with lately. Thank you for sharing with us, I hope you get relief very soon!
I'm sorry that some of you are experiencing headaches, I have a feeling its right around the corner for me. The only thing that seems to help for migraines around here is to lay down in a dark, cool room and wait it out. I had about a month of terrible sinus issues during my last pregnancy at the beginning of the second trimester. All of the increased blood flow leads to increase mucus production, just lovely isn't it?
Darkblue, that quinoa salad sounds amazing!! Would you mind posting the recipe for proportions? I'd love to make a big batch for us to snack on. I made a garlic, pea, and corn quinoa last night that was pretty tasty and filling. Sometimes it seems to be the only way to get some nutrients into the teen . Also, I'm sorry to hear that your location and lifestyle don't match up quite right, I totally understand, it's really hard sometimes. The biggest problem we've been having with that is the lack of sun. I don't think I can take much more of the Seattle weather. After our vacation on the east coast, we realized how much we need sun and warmth. It's so hard to have energy for anything with this doom and gloom. The forecast calls for sun later this week, I'm crossing my fingers!!
Boobs and chai-I'm totally on board. I was a little concerned that this pregnancy was somehow weak at the beginning because I wasn't having any breast changes (still nursing DD2 at that time), but wowee, I think I'm making up for lost time now! Luckily, my mom gave me a whole bunch of her bras last time around so I have a good supply. I do love me some chai, sweet and spiced. I noticed that the spiced really helped with nausea, must be the ginger. Now I just need to do some baking so I can have some chai and pastries in the morning. Has anyone ever made their own biscotti?
We also are experiencing a major financial crunch right now. I'm going to really have to crack down, and I'm not looking forward to the protests I'm going to get from DH and DD1. We're really going to try to focus on free activities for the summer, like volunteering. I hate to say no to either of them, but if I don't start soon, we're going to get into trouble. Plus, we don't know for certain that DH will be getting a teaching job in the fall, so that's a bit stressful.
Speaking of stress, I think many of us have been experiencing it lately. Let's talk stress reduction techniques, does anyone know of an inexpensive method of learning to meditate? I love relaxation visualization and such, just can't afford a bunch of CDs.
Lastly, heartburn...anyone else? It's been plaguing me lately. Pregnancy one was heartburn central and #2 was no big deal. Now it's back with a vengence. I've cut out decaf coffee and large meals. But I suspect that the combination of pregnancy and stress bring it on, so I hope that stress reduction will help.
Good news: today is our 2 year anniversary (cotton), and DH bought me the most wonderful pair of comfy sweats ever! I don't think I'll be taking them off for a loooonng time.
